What do your kids eat for breakfast? We're in a rut & I need ideas. My kids wake up really hungry & want to eat right away, and I'm just trying to wake up. They eat ridiculous amounts of food in the morning! Cereal, yogurt, and fruit aren't cutting it. They don't consistently eat eggs if I make them.

My kids eat either frozen pancakes or waffles along with either string cheese or a yogurt tube. Then I usually split a banana between the two of them. They are 4.5 and 2.5.
during the week they eat cold cereal with milk (usually cheerios).
At the weekend I make bacon and eggs, sometimes I make pancakes or waffles but weirdly they often won't eat pancakes/waffles so I am hesitant to go to the trouble.
We often go to a diner one weekend day and they split a fried eggs with meat (usually kielbasa) toast and homefries plate.
you could make some kind of muffins that are healthy-ish and freeze them?
You can also make up a bunch of english muffin sandwiches with egg, meat and cheese and freeze them prewrapped, then microwave. But if they don't consistently eat eggs that might not be great.
my kids like toast too but I hate giving them toast. It seems like a lot of effort to do the buttering. Then there is the complaining- not enough butter, it's melting too fast, he got more butter than me, this corner has no butter.
My kids eat a lot at breakfast! Pretty much every day they have Vans multi grain waffles with coconut butter, Applegate chicken sausage, fruit, almond milk, and most days also have a small bowl of cheerios.
My kids are the same ages and tend to eat a lot in the am. DD likes instant oatmeal (even in the summer) which is good because it keeps her full at school. They both like tubes of greek yogurt as well and a lot of fruit. DS likes eggs so I usually put one in a custard dish and pop it in the microwave he eats it like a sandwich (i.e. I leave it as one big piece and pop it out of the dish).
Some other things they both eat: Mini bagels with sunbutter (thomas makes one fairly large ones that aren't too big for them to finish) Turkey Sausage Mini pancakes/waffles Cliff Z bars (they have certain ones that have 5 grams of protein in them) www.clifbar.com/products/clif-kid/zbar Cheese Sticks Turkey cold cut wrapped around the cheese sticks
I try to get as much protein in them as possible so they stay full since they are on the go all day at school/camp for 10 hours.
We're in a rut too, but a different rut. Frozen waffles, pancakes (usually homemade saved from the weekend), or english muffins with peanut butter. Plus some kind of fruit.
He eats at school, but has a "first breakfast" at home. Usually just milk and a banana.
When he does eat at home, I do: frozen whole grain waffles with PB instant oatmeal (Trader Joe's has some good ones that seem healthier) 1/2 wheat bagel with cream cheese sometimes he'll eat scrambled eggs, but they have to be just right "cloud bread", which if you Google, is basically just eggs and cream cheese, but he LOVES it!!! pancakes - I really like the Kodiak Cakes mix, and if you make it with egg and milk, it's a good protein boost I always add milk and fruit to any meal
For a long time, J's go to breakfast was yogurt mixed with plain fruit and oatmeal with flax, almonds and a dollop of honey.
She's been on a cereal kick recently.
Other breakfast things we've done/do sometimes: -green smoothies -make whole wheat pancakes at the weekend and reheat in the toaster -mini crustless quiche reheat well and also freeze -mini muffins that I make -store bought sausages
I also love avocado toast plus an egg as a breakfast item--though avocado is one of the items that J vehemently dislikes so full disclosure on that.
Staples around here are cereal, scrambled eggs, toast with PB, toasted bagels with PB or cream cheese, smoothies, yogurt, pancakes, waffles, grilled PB and banana sandwiches with cinnamon sugar, oatmeal breakfast cookies/bars, banana bread, the occasional Pop Tart or muffin. Always with fruit and glass of milk.
For more time intensive stuff like the breakfast cookies, banana bread, pancakes or waffles I tend to make a larger batch on the weekend, so we have some to eat and some to freeze for use during the week since no way can I prep that on a busy weekday morning.
