Anyone else getting excited about the info coming out? Here's a good article discussing the adaptation: www.ew.com/article/2016/07/14/dark-tower-movie-wont-feature-eddie-susannah (the article says that it's spoilers are vague, but if you haven't read the books I don't recommend reading beyond the "secret sequel" section.)
Sounds like they're more or less sticking with the first book in the series so we don't have to wonder yet about just how they'll adapt the Susannah vs Roland storyline.
I also didn't think I'd like Matthew McConnaughey as the man in black, but after seeing him in this cover, I have to say, he really looks the part.
I've probably read the first 30 pages of The Dark Tower 3 or 4 times. I feel like I'd really love it if I gave it a chance. Maybe this will give me motivation!
My husband just read the first book not too long ago, and he keeps telling me to read it. And I want to, but there are so many other things that I also want to read. I'm with snshne322, maybe this finally gives me the motivation. I love me some McConaughey.

It took me a while to get into, and honestly I didn't love any of the first 3 books. I stayed with it because people said I should, and book 4 (Wizard and Glass) blew me away.

Funny because that's my least favourite of the series personally The Drawing of the Three was the one that got me hooked. But yeah, The Gunslinger is pretty slow at times but it certainly sets the stage.

My husband read the series and loved it. I never had the desire to get into it, but Matthew McConnaughey is quite appealing.
Is this the same series that Stephen King never finished, then *allegedgly* a guy on death row wrote him a letter asking SK to finish the series before he was put to death? If that's the one my husband enjoyed it, but I think he was a little disappointed that he could predict where the ending would go.

It took King a long time to finish the series and it's his longest series, but I don't know anything about a death row inmate.
I thought it was a good ending, honestly. But, in general I don't think King is great at endings, so the bar isn't high.

The story I heard was just that Stephen King had some kind of a realization that he was actually getting old and might die someday (it might have been that terrible car accident he was in a few years back, I'm not sure), and all of a sudden he realized that he couldn't leave this series unfinished, so he wrote the ending.
