The baby is 21 months. When she was a newborn we put her name down on the list for two local schools. We plan to start her in a year. She got her first acceptance/start date letter today. It was from the "right" school. Apparently we need to go to orientation classes in the spring.
My law school didn't have this much pomp and circumstance about matriculation.
That is insane. I mean, I knew places like that existed, but I didn't know that they were, like, real.
Not sure that makes sense. Probably not.
I just cannot fathom having to put my kid on a list 3 years in advance. I couldn't even pick pictures for or order birth announcements until 4 months out. Preschool? Not even on my radar. But thank goodness you were on the ball!
Well congratulations to you on getting in to the right one DD's preschool last year was sort of like that. And tuition to make you gasp.
Have you seen Nursery University? (documentary about NYC preschool admissions) We watched it and it made us feel better about the preschool craziness here. But it sounds like your area may be as bad as NYC. In any case, it was an entertaining movie!
Oh no, not NYC like - thank goodness. Except for the early sign up and "orientation classes" we haven't been jumping through the hoops I hear about in SF proper (real applications, interviews for parents and kids, cultivating connections and relationships, etc).
The future scholar is currently running in circles in a diaper and my straw hat.
