Brought to by: DD threw my phone on the ground one too many times and the screen shattered this morning. I know I can get a new screen (maybe? actually it's old so I don't know for sure), but I've been wanting a new phone for awhile so now's my chance.
I have a Moto X, and I want to stick with Android. Important features would be nice camera, 32GB storage, and maybe something that isn't easy to break. Ha.
I like my Moto and was thinking about upgrading to the newer Moto X Pure, but I think I can only order it online, which means I'm stuck with a broken phone for a few days... which I know people who continue to use broken screen phones but I'm kinda nervous about the tiny pieces of glass. The biggest reason I like the Moto is because of the Moto Assist feature, which turns on when I'm driving and allows me to answer calls without touching the phone, reads text messages to me and lets me respond by voice. Maybe there are apps that do this though? The Moto automatically detects based on GPS if I'm driving, so it's not something I ever had to turn on, which is nice. I also use the "do not disturb" feature overnight.
What phone should I get?
And, if anyone has done the math, does it make any difference if I buy a phone outright, or if I do the AT&T Next plan?
I LOVE my Samsung Active s7 ... I have a tendency to drop my phone all the time. Also I can drop it in water and not ruin it. It's shatterproof/waterproof and literally beautiful.
If you know you like the moto, I'd just get that. I have a Moto G3 that I really love. I'm sure there are apps to do the moto assist stuff, but it's just so seamless.

Did you buy your Moto in store or online? I know the in-store inventory may differ, but thought it was weird I couldn't find the X or G on AT&T's website as options.
Me too! I got it last week and I am in love. I came from the S5, so not a huge difference, but enough where I am so happy I spent the $$ on a new one. I like the Active but it's only available on Verizon and we have Sprint.

No advice on androids, but when I shattered my screen and couldn't get it fixed right away, I put packing tape over it so I could keep using it without shredding my fingers.

My H broke the screen on his in less than a week. He doesn't even know how it happened, he is a contractor and it is always in his pocket, but he didn't specifically drop it.

I love my S7. I had an S6 edge, but the edges are unprotected by cases, and I dropped it and killed the phone (not just shattered the screen). Consumer Reports doesn't recommend the Active because it failed the waterproof test. The S7 and S7 edge are water resistant.

Weird. I do feel strongly that you should at least use glass screen protection on these. I don't think there is a way to completely protect it. It's glass after all. I broke my glass protection with in the first 2 weeks and already got it replaced. It has taken a fall now about 10 times in two months and holding up well. The battery is superior on it.
