My mom got DD a science experiment book and she and DH have been choosing an experiment to do every other day or so. DD LOVES it so much. Pretty sure H is reliving his childhood too. I adore seeing him and her together, and I hope her enthusiasm is genuine and lasting. I wish I had been good at chemistry, I found it fascinating. But I sucked lol Oh well, H is a material scientist so DD has a 50/50 chance right??
What book is it? DD loves "doing science" as she puts it. I'd love to get her a book of science experiments.
D is awake and sort of fussing/calming himself/fussing again. I'm forcing myself not to go in unless he starts actually crying. I really will be terrible if we have to CIO because even this is tough for me.
Also, I desperately want to go to the inauguration, but I almost had a panic attack at the Rally to Restore Sanity. I got separated from H, I was being squished on all sides and thought I'd be suffocated to death, and phones weren't working. I imagine it is worse at inauguration?
The Rally to Restore Sanity was so fun though. If only inauguration had signs that entertaining.
DH and I are thinking about going. We think the historic moment might be countered by Hillary's lack of popularity.

krystee, mskitkat, honestly 2008 wasn't too bad ime. We were far away, but it was more being part of the moment than actually seeing anything. People were so happy and hopeful, it was an amazing experience. We came home and watched the speeches and swearing in on tv, lol.

I need toddler poop help. DS normally poops every day. We started PT on Friday, he pooped in underwear Fri/Sat/Sun. He's been doing great peeing on the potty and didn't have an accident all day yesterday (first day back at daycare) and a pee accident on our way home in the car today (probably my fault because I don't know when he went last and I picked him up from the playground). We came home and I had him sit on the potty for awhile to poop and he was yelling like it hurt (maybe it really did or he was being dramatic so he could "get out" of pooping?). He sat a little bit later after I showed him his special poop on the potty prize and gave him my phone to watch a show to distract/relax him. No poop tonight. When do I start to worry? And how can I encourage him to go without starting a power struggle? I don't care if he goes in his underwear, I just want him to go.
You know...I'm beginning to really think the new Principal at the kid's school is a dick. Just found out that leggings are no longer allowed as part of the uniform. All the girls, ages 1st grade & up wear navy or black leggings under their skirts all winter. None of the girls like/wear the pants. It's been this way for the entire 8yrs we've been at the school. Why are they screwing that up? What's the big deal? So now we either force our girls to wear pants, let them freeze all winter, or do tights which are even more likely to get ruined in a short time than leggings. It's totally pissing me right off.

oceanstbride, my DS would hold it 3 days usually and then he would have a terrible time going. We would give a little Miralax but even that didn't get him to go. That went on for about 2 months. He eventually caught a stomach bug that made his poop really soft and got him over his fear of going daily. I wouldn't worry yet.
DD just woke up and told me that she has to go poop, but it hurts to try to go. And then she tells me that it's been that way for a few days. AWESOME. I gave her milk of magnesia and lots of cuddles and then put her in our bed because I feel bad for her. Now I'm trying to decide if I should keep her home from daycare tomorrow (I'm off) because she hates pooping at daycare, and I obviously really don't want her to try to hold it right now. Poor girl.
Marmee, growing up we always wore sweatpants/leggings under our skirts for our commute to school and took them off before class started. At least the school was heated well. We'd change back for our commute home.
Top 10 worst parenting moment? Forcing your kid to take medicine for their own good, only to have them vomit it all over you because you squirted it into their mouth too fast. Then having to do it all over again because he never ingested it in the first place.
Been there done that. We try and put towels down now before giving medicine because of the potential for vomit. I feel your pain.

It's called My First Science Book by Susan Akass Published 2015 by Cico Kids Books
Super easy, DH also got DD a moleskin notebook so she can "write down" her conclusions and findings.
Hair is my #1 concern with having a girl. You mean it's going to consist of more than just patting it down with some water when he wakes up with it sticking straight up? Though if she's anything like her brother I won't need to worry about hair at all for the first 2 years.
DD already has this wicked mullet but the top of her head is all poofy and curly after a bath. Poor thing.
I have so much little kid hair experience I feel like it makes up for the fact that I never finished cosmetology school (yes, I'm a beauty school dropout). DS has coarse hair and it grows in a circular whirl in the back. We have to get it cut every 3 weeks. DD1 has fine and straight hair and she looks like she was electrocuted when she wakes up. She wears a short, angled bob but wants long hair DD2 has great hair she's easy. DD3 has curls, she was born with a full head of of dark hair and now we have to buy her curly hair products at age 2, I use a baby shampoo but use a leave in conditioner for curly hair on her. DD4 has tons of hair at almost 2 months. Her hair is 1/3 of her 7.8lbs lol!
