All I've really got are DS car updates , but it seems like if we wait too late for a randoms, they don't happen. So we narrowed the car choices down to a Hyundai Elantra and a Honda Civic, but I think the Civic just won out because it's only going to add a little over $100 to our 6 month premium, while the Elantra will add $550. Same year, so not sure why. I thought Hondas were the more widely stolen of the two makes, so I expected that to be higher. Then again, I heard this from my mother, so...yeah lol.
Oh! Also, this is equally uninteresting, but I was certain I'd ordered a baby gift to send to our cousin and his wife, but I guess I never did? I never received any delivery info, so when I went back to check, I never received order confirmation either? Then, I checked to see if I was ever charged for it and I wasn't, but I remember selecting the gift wrap and writing the note, so I don't know what happened. I was hoping it would be delivered on the day of the baby shower which was Saturday, and I apparently never clicked through. So weird. I am concerned for my brain when it's even older than it is now. This is what I thought about when I woke up at 4:30 am, so I didn't go back to sleep until I reordered the gift. I now have order confirmation.
Please tell me you have more interesting things happening in your world today.
I went to the gym yesterday. It wasn't so bad. Except when I logged in it shows the last date you logged in. For me, that was 3 days before BB was born. I'm usually pretty good lately but man that was like a punch to the gut. All the feelings came back and I fought back tears.
But at least I went back. The plan is to go again today.
sfy I've heard the same about Hondas and it is true but I think they're also rated higher for safety, so maybe that's the difference in insurance?
Annnddddd, we've since learned that there is only about a $50 difference in the premium. This is like the 4th time I've questioned whether I should take this process over from DH *-) . I just don't understand what this guy is doing sometimes.
Anyway, yay for getting back to the gym! And also a *hug* for the gut punch. Save
sfy, good luck with the car. I've never bought a car so I know nothing about them. Lol. Oh but I did have a Honda CRV that lasted forever! Lol. I inherited it down the line and gave it to my bro and it's still going.
sfy , we have a 2012 Honda Civic and we've been very happy with it (bought from Carmax a year or two ago). It's so good on gas! We'll trade it in one day for a mini van but for now, it's pretty sweet (from a MMM perspective ).
I need to step up my cooking game. My garden is producing tons of tomatoes, peppers, and tomatillos but I'm feeling so lazy about dealing with them all. Twice already I've just roasted tons for later use...
sfy, I'd go with a Honda over a Hyundai. Hondas are very reliable whereas Hyundais and Kias just don't hold up as well and aren't typically built to last.

Our guest list keeps increasing thanks to my BF and this wedding is getting so pricey. We're now at 200, estimating 170 will attend. Id love to keep it at 150 because an extra 20 people is $10,000 more to our budget. It's so weird because my BF was all about 80 people before and now keeps adding people to guest list. I'll have to rein him in.
dreamcrisp1 , over generalization here, but you will never regret inviting fewer people to your wedding.
I know! I wish it was easier though. I have a large family and we have a lot of friends.
My family is 90, friends are 60, his family is 20, vendors and us is 10, plus about 20 people that are a mix of parents friends and my bffs parents.
That makes things tricky. That's a lot of friends too, oh my. Are you guys paying for the wedding? If so, can you get help from family to at least cover more extended family that might not otherwise be invited? (e.g., can't offend great Aunt Marsha and second cousin John).....

Luckily, they are contributing to the wedding. But it's almost all just my first cousins and my aunts and uncles. My dad has 8 siblings. And I'm close to all of my cousins. Some of my 2nd cousins but only like 10-15?
Wow! Unanimous support for the Honda! Thanks, all . It actually was our favorite initially, because all three of us liked it (@sfgal530 , DH also had an Acura for a long time that he loved), but after test driving the Sentra, the Elantra, the Sonata, and the Civic, the Elantra gained ground with DS. He didn't like the Sentra because, well, I think he just doesn't want another Nissan, and he didn't like the Sonata because it felt too large. The Hyundai was also tempting because of the great warranty. As of yesterday he was completely indifferent between the two, but today, he also said he has a slight preference for the Civic. DH is emailing with dealers, so if we could wrap this up today, that would be great, because DS and his roommate are supposed to move in tomorrow.
It would be nearly impossible for me to cut relatives, dreamcrisp1 , I feel your pain.
Oh no, raangoli! I hate that places are having to do that now .

I know people hate them and I am sure this is not an option for you, but this is exactly why we had a destination wedding. Our families are so huge and they are all local. We wouldn't have been able to invite any friends to stay in budget even though we are closer to them than much family. The guest list was definitely the most stressful part of wedding planning. I am sorry you are dealing with it.SaveSave
Have you ever had someone ignore a question multiple times via email and then when you pick up the phone to call him/her, no answer, even though you know she/he is around? *ragerageragerage*
I called Delta just now to try to make a flight change and the time for my call back in over two hours. This outage business is crazy.
sfy Another reason I'd personally go with the Honda is because I don't have many Hyundai dealerships nearby. It sucks when your mechanic needs to order a part from the dealership and the one dealership within hundreds of miles doesn't have the part in stock. There's so many Honda dealerships around that I don't think this would be as much of an issue.
Good job getting back to the gym, raangoli! I'm sorry about the training. I bet that was intense and emotional.
Lol sfy. Sounds like you do need to be running this show! I've driven a few civics over the years, and loved them! I am always a proponent of a kid learning to drive a stick shift too, and that's one car that's easy to find in stick. MH sucks at it, so I always drive us in Europe. Annoying to not be able to share the load!
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
Ugh, I feel sick to my stomach today, but can't go home because there's too much going on. I'm doing a test run of some training at 1, so maybe after that. I think I need a week of just sleeping in to recover.

This is part of why we are eloping to Maui. I couldn't deal with all of the family logistics and drama. But next to no-one is local. It's Fiance has family that can't/won't travel outside of Massachusetts. I have family who can't/won't travel outside of New York. There would be major drama or who was or wasn't invited, over who was or wasn't accommodated, over who got to control what if anyone helped pay, etc. etc. etc.
It's just not worth it to us to lose our sanity trying to please everyone and still have people upset with us. So we're pleasing noone and they can deal with it.

We did talk about a stick, but I don't think it's going to happen because our timetable is so tight right now. I learned to drive a stick, but I only had the car for a year and a half, and now I can barely do it, so basically my H is you when we travel :^) . He never really gives me enough time to get reacclimated, however.

It does take some time! H and FIL insisted on being our drivers on our trip to Spain, where we shared the car. FIL drove so poorly that they thought the transmission had gone out completely. It was awful!! They even pulled over at a small service station on the way to Gibraltar, and thought the car was toast. We crossed fingers for weeks that we wouldn't be hit with some huge bill. Always now, if they're driving, we will spend the extra $$$ for an automatic.

I'll jump in to defend Hyundais. I bought mine in 2006, it was a year old, and I'm still driving it. No repairs other than scheduled maintenance. DH has a 2007 that he bought when it was a year old, and he's had the same experience.
