So my mom and stepdad have a burial site picked out for their cremains at a nice mortuary "garden of remembrance" in Eugene. I've seen the area and it's absolutely beautiful. So I just put a deposit down for a granite post with both DH's and my name and our "dates", and the space is right next door to Mom.
This makes me very happy because I could never decide what to do with DH's ashes. Now we'll be next to each other under a beautiful fir tree. : )

I don't think it is morbid. I think it is wonderful that you will be next to your DH and that your surviving family members don't have to make those decisions or be financially responsible for your cremains.
Not morbid - I think it’s nice. A settling feeling. I know my mom felt a sense of calm when she and my dad decided what their final resting places would be.

This is me. I feel totally at peace for making this decision. It's a BEAUTIFUL spot, and I know Chris would approve. Being next to my mom is an added bonus.
My mom's best friend, who will be on the other side of Mom (with her H), has her son's ashes buried in the same plot she and her H have reserved. She told me she didn't like the idea of her son's ashes scattered--she wanted them in one place. That got me to thinking about Chris. He never indicated what he wanted done with his cremains, so it really bugged me on deciding what to do with them. Making this decision has calmed those concerns.
ETA: Plus, now my sons won't have to worry about the cost or placement.

It's not morbid. You are smart for planning (and paying) ahead. How are you?
I'm doing fairly well. The service in Oregon went much better than I had expected. I'm back home now. Honestly it still hasn't quite sunk in that I can't pick up the phone to call her and share a laugh.

See if your chosen memorial park/state will show you to prepay opening and closing costs. That can get expensive and a lot don't think of prepaying that. I only know from working in one for a year.

I will certainly ask those questions. Thank you for pointing that out. : )
