And how do you fuel for that long of a swim? I was amazed at your 10 mile. I kept thinking i'd want a whole pizza and then some at the end of 10 miles!
Youve lost your mind, but you can TOTALLY do it. Then we build you a monument to recognize your extreme badassery (which youve already earned, but this is...another level).
It would not be my jam. I like challenging myself to swim faster rather than longer. I am super stubborn (as I'm sure you are), and I just don't enjoy that fight with myself and stubborn insistence to not stop when I am not having fun anymore. I have no idea what my outer distance limit is, but I don't care to find out because once I get past 10k, and even to a point at 10k, it stops being fun for me. So I just don't enter things longer than that and instead look to get faster at the distances that I do, and find fun. If you think something like this would be fun for you though, then yes, go do it. I used to swim with a guy who hated trying to swim faster because it stressed him out, so swimming longer and longer was his brand of fun, and preferred low-stress way to challenge himself. It takes all kinds.

I'm more like the dude you mention. I'm just slow. Always have been. Always will be. Amongst masters swimmers, I'll always land bottom third with fears of DFL. For real. My body just isn't the right shape for speed (I'm 5'3" and pudgy) and I have absolutely ZERO fast-twitch muscle fibers. I'm ok with that. Swimming farther is my best way to challenge myself, at this point.
That sounds terrifying to me, but I definitely think you can do it if you put in the time! Beyond nuts and amazing. Please let us be the first to know once you decide??
mrs.jacinthe, what kind of tracker do you use? i'm about to get back in the pool after years and years away and am interested in a tracker to keep up with my swims.

For open water miles, I put my phone in a waterproof case in my floating dry bag towable and use map my run. For the pool, I keep track of yards in my head and then enter into the USMS website.
