How are you distracting yourself from the Olympics (or anything else going on in your life right now)? Is it gripping enough to keep you from noticing Michael Phelps and his 20+ Gold Medals?*
*Note: I know how many he has as of 1:09 a.m. Central Time/4:09 p.m. Australian Eastern Time, Friday, August 12, but did not lit the exact number for fear of spoiling it for others who may or may not have seen the overnight footage/coverage.
QOTW: What do you do to de-stress when the world (or more than 3 hours spent in phone hold hell) gets to be too much?
I'm not really sure what I'm reading at the moment. I started The Beast, but I really just think I need to quite BDB. I started another New Adult last night, The Edge of Never, but it's just meh, and a hold came in this morning.
I'm listening to The Raven King.
QOTW: I don't really know what I do to destress. I need solitude for that and my house is too tiny for any of that. We're moving in a few weeks to a larger home so I hope that helps. I really enjoy when DH/DS go out of the day. That's probably my best detressing.
I'm about 1/3 through Lord of the Wings (Donna Andrews) and enjoying it.
QOTW: Generally, I need quiet to help de-stress. Since I live alone (other than my two feline masters), I can usually get that silence and unwind. Most recently, my job was my biggest source of stress - well, if you ignore moving 2,000 and living with my mother for 3 months - but I changed jobs in January and that's made a *huge* difference in my stress levels.
I'm finally making a dent in Lions by Bonnie Nadzam. It's a slow, atmospheric book and definitely not perfect for this very distracted point in my summer, but it is a good book. Also reading All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda, which I hope will be more of a page turner.
dorothyinAus, swimming is one of the few things NBC is actually showing live in prime time. I am an unapologetic Michael Phelps fan. That's just amazing swimming he's doing.
QOTW: Usually yoga does the trick. A nice sweaty class is ideal, but practicing at home helps too.

I'm reading The Angels' Share and I really like it but it is pretty much Olympics in any spare second I have. I have 44 "episodes" on my DVR ranging between 1 and 5 hours long. I LOVE THE OLYMPICS!!
QOTW: I try to do as little as possible adulting/real life stuff. Order food or drive thru. Let the house become a disaster. Veg out watching tv or reading and napping.
Struggling to get through Raven' Boys. It's not keeping my attention.
QOTW: I go to the movies, shop and workout. Currently I took the day off to run away from my office.
How far are you? I struggled for maybe the first 30% or so, but I ended up liking it and downloaded the second one last night. My kindle version didn't have page numbers (which I hate) and I was surprised to see it was over 400 pages when I looked it up.

It's gotten much better at 60%. I'm at 80% now. Still undecided if I will continue the series.

Like most of these stupid series, it finally ends with me wanting to know more - lol.
The Procrastinator's Handbook: Mastering the Art of Doing It Now - I've read another chapter! But I'm still not finding it particularly helpful. I should just bite the bullet and finish it though, because it's not that long and I'm halfway through it at this point.
Who Fears Death - I'll probably finish it up this weekend.
I'm not really into the Olympics, so if it's on and it's swimming I'm mildly paying attention to the US competitors (although I am enjoying Katie Ledecky kicking ass).
QOTW: I tend to run away or hide when I'm feeling stressed out. Now that I'm no longer working (my major stressor) I just find a quiet place to chill out, usually in my house but sometimes out window shopping so I can just wander around and be alone. When I was working sometimes I'd leave my desk and go for a walk for 15-20 minutes, or I'd go hide in the library.

Good to know about the swimming. My brother had told me that nothing was live; everything was delayed, even if it was only by 10 or 15 minutes.

I'm reading the last (so far) of the Emma Lord/Alpine Advocate books, The Alpine Zen. It's interesting and holding my attention and I'm glad I've caught up with the series.
QOTW: Last night, I took a long hot shower and had a rum & coke, but usually I try to get out for a walk or do some exercise to work off the stress. If I'm really stressed, I can't sit still long enough to read or do anything that requires mental focus, so exercise is about the only thing that will help work off the energy.

I'm reading Keep Quiet by Lisa Scottoline. It was leant by a neighbor friend when we both agreed the one we're 'supposed' to be reading for next week's book club is way too heavy for a summer read/ what we're feeling right now. So it's definitely light, but I'm enjoying!! A Bear, a Backpack, & 8 Crates of Vodka was book club choice. It received good reviews, but neither one of us were really feeling it. Plus it didn't help that this neighbor's last three choices for her hosting month book mention her husband in the acknowledgments. We Get It- stop bragging!!!

I just started Did You Ever have a Family. It's got good reviews, but I can't stay awake long enough to make a dent in it.
QOTW- normally workout, but I confess after having my family drive me bananas last weekend, I went to the farmers market and target for some peace. I felt much better when I got home and didn't even spend any money at target.
I gave up on The Lake House because it wasn't keeping my attention. When things calm down I'll start another book. Right now everything is too hectic with the move, to give any book the necessary attention.
I destress by finding solo me time. I go out on my own to go shopping, out for lunch, hit the gym, get a mani/pedi, etc. I can usually recharge well with a little individual time.
I'm reading the Body Farm by Patricia Cornwell. I enjoy her main characters in this series. I think this is #5
If i need to get away immediately, I'll go for a walk or drive. Otherwise, I throw myself into a book or a project of some sort, even if it's just cleaning/organizing.
I read: Horde by Ann Aguirre (last in a YA trilogy - it was pretty good); Once We Were Brothers (omg loooooved this book - historical fiction/mystery); Practice Makes Perfect by Julie James (PG13 romance - good but not great)
Currently reading: Words of Radiance (finally over 50% done! - really great Fantasy book, just super long); The Last Mile by David Baldacci (audiobook, second in a mystery/thriller series, I really liked the first book)
