I've always had horrible razor burn and every time I found something that worked it got discontinued. I finally discovered that using witch hazel on my legs after shaving works great and I don't have to worry about it being discontinued. I've been doing it for a few years now and have had very little razor burn.

I sometimes get KP on the backs of my thighs. If I were to shave over those bumps, it would definitely be like razor burn. Maybe add an alpha hydroxy moisturizer into your daily routine and see if that helps.
If it just started and won't go away, good chance it's something like folliculitis. You need to top shaving long enough for it to totally clear up. Then be very careful about shaving too frequently and essentially shaving over micro-wounds before they get to heal and open them up to infection.

I don't need to shave at all, I had it all lasered off!
Seriously, I am having the same issues using the same razor. I think they changed it or something because I never had issues with them. I change it weekly now, it sucks and like everyone else said let it go a bit longer between shaving otherwise it gets bad.
ETA - for the same reason - sideways growing hair. And apparently the Italian genes over rode the Norwegian genes - but only on the legs - the rest of me looks pretty Norwegian. Save
This sounds ridiculous, but whenever my legs start to hate me, I use hair conditioner as my shaving cream. Brand is irrelevant. I just use the conditioner on my legs, and shave away.
Walla, problem solved.
This is all I ever use. Also, I find if I am starting to get irritation, I need to back off a day.

Have you tried dry brushing? It exfoliates really well.
I have tons of body hair issues--sensitive skin, dark/thick hair prone to ingrowns, etc. I find the keys are exfoliation, shaving creme (not gel), changing the blade often (men's 5 blade), and only shaving every other or every three days.
