Also, do you do intros here? If so, hi, I'm usually around on Drinking While Parenting and MMM, former English teacher, current Substitute Teacher, and constant reader.
Anyway, I loved the book. It helped my process me own conflicted feelings about police brutality against black people (not that I ever thought it was a good thing, just grappled with my own role in it as an uninvolved white woman), and it actually made me wish I was still teaching so that I could use it in the classroom as way to involve that many more students in the discussion.
This is an AMAZING book. I was fortunate enough to get an ARC of this from Jason Reynolds himself last summer at a conference. This book is going to be our public library/school district's "Read Brave" book this school year (anyone who wants a copy gets one, and the authors come visit and autograph everyone's book).
I read it in the car on the way home from the conference. My poor driving partner had to drive extra because I couldn't put it down. Both Jason and Brendan are on Twitter and happy to engage in conversation about the book.
If I could pick one book everyone should read, it would be this one.
Yes! I heard about it last year from another teacher in my PLC. Finally read it this summer, and have ordered a copy for my classroom library. Such a great book, especially with the current environment.
