I got some great advice but I have continued my job search/networking. My question now is I have about three companies I have been staying in contact with. My top company was suppose to be posting the job this week at the earliest and as of today it is still not posted. The second company gave me a third interview even after I told them I was pregnant. They were thrilled I would be having a a baby and started to tell me all about their maternity policy which sounds amazing. The only draw is the salary is way to low for me to move out of state and I wouldn't be covered by their health insurance for 90 days. The third company doesn't have the right opportunity at the moment because the client can't make up his mind on what he needs for his company.
So my question is should I contact the hiring manager at the first company and tell him about the second company? We have been emailing back and forth every couple of weeks and he seems nice and laid back. He also said I'm not alone in the hiring process and he will tell me when the posting is out there. I also would like to know more about their maternity policy but I don't want to tell him I'm pregnant since I haven't had a first official interview yet. Is it to forward to ask when in the process I could see an employee manual. I also know about their benefits but I'm not sure when they kick in. I think as soon as you start because that is what their sister company does. The second company said they would make a decision next week on who they what to continue the process with. So Should I send an email today or just wait till next week and then email him. What should I say?
Just wait, most hiring managers assume candidates are looking at other jobs, and since you don't have an offer yet it would be premature to bring up another potential opportunity. Plus it doesn't seem like you would accept an offer from the second place? I would also wait on asking for an employee manual until you have, or are much closer to, an offer.
