Bless you for not posting that, RockNVoll . Ouch. I hope you are able to revel in the rest of your mental health day. I agree with everyone else--they are so important.
My poor friend forgot to sign up for the trail race we ran a week ago. They told her she could "spectate on the trail in a mobile fashion" (aka, run the race without a bib) and she fell and scraped up both knees. She was such a good sport about it.
Oh boo, that sounds terrible RockNVoll . That's not karma, that's just bad luck. Everyone needs to take a day here and there.
I must be a bad commuter, b/c I have bad commuter karma. Even if I try to pick a "good" seat, I somehow always manage to sit next to someone (ahem, a man) who feels the need to assert their masculinity by spreading their legs and elbows as far into my space as possible. And just poke me the entire freaking ride. And it's not always bigger men, sometimes it's below averaged size men. LEARN TO SHARE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to be sexist and sit next to women from here on out. ETA: (and this right here is why I have bad commuter karma!)
Awww, sorry about your hands RockNVoll I'm impressed your now flying without the safety lines! Badass!
genet313, the manspread infuriates me as well. I've been having my own commuter-related rage lately because to date not one person has given up their subway seat to me, the obviously pregnant lady. I'd probably decline, because really, I can stand just fine, but its the principal of the matter that bugs me.

Seriously? That's terrible! Maybe I should get you one of those pins they hand out for the tube that basically say Baby on Board In this the British are not subtle.
And thanks for the congrats! I'm pretty excited about it I just hope my hands are healed enough to try again at my next class in a week and a half.

First baby, right? I'm noticing a lot more seat offering with #2 than #1. Now, to be fair, DD1 was small and it was winter so I had a coat on, but even during the months where I was coatless/open coat and it was obvious, people didn't get up as much. I am bigger this time around, which I think makes it simply more obvious.
I've also noticed people on the subway are way less accommodating than people on trains/buses, etc. Even the PATH I've had multiple people give up seats w/o any question this time. I really do think people are so oblivious on the subway that they simply do not look at anyone or anything else but their books/phones/random subway ads and may not notice. It's generally a shorter commute, people get on and get off all the time, it's a different vibe.

Yes, first baby, and I will admit I'm not huge but I think I'm pretty clearly pregnant (see today's HDBD: pandce.proboards.com/thread/548951/hdbd-8-24). I agree that some people are just so zoned out with their phones/books, but there are others that definitely look at my belly and then go back to their phones and it brings me so much rage lol.
When I was in middle school I was an avid shoplifter. Honestly, it was so bad.
I went to the fair and bought a ring. Like I actually paid for it. Then I saw this keychain with my mom's name on it and stole it. Then I was looking at these other rings and the booth owner grabbed me and accused me of stealing the ring I had bought somewhere else. He made a huge scene. Luckily the fair cops or whatever could see the booth and the ring I bought from and the people vouched for me. I never shoplifted again after that.
The manspread on planes kill me. Yes I fit in my seat with room to spare so why punish me by invading my spaaaace and hanging your arms over the arm rest?
My roommate is a general jerk who has no regard for other's or other's resources. I feel this causes issues in her personal and professional life. I have heard her sobbing in her room for the last three nights. IDGAF. There's a real karma story for you.
As for your rips RockNVoll,... New skin liquid bandages is the bomb.
My SIL the anti-vaxxer is having karma bite her in the butt now that her middle child is in HS and the laws in her state have changed. She can't come up with a valid reason not to get them. I'm trying not to gloat from afar.
I hope your hands feel better. FWIW, I'm very close to someone who called in sick today to go on a job interview

RockNVoll that sucks. I hope the wounds are better soon. And yay to W for helping out.
scm1011 I once had a passenger on the red line take a picture of me standing next to this girl who was sitting with a bunch of shopping bags. But most of the time I was offered seats I refused. This makes me angry for you.

So I finally went back to my local running supply store because I wore the last of the tread off my old running shoes. It turns out I still had $100 of credit on my account there from the last time I did the running group with them over a year ago that I completely forgot about. Yet another good reason to support local business.
My normally $130 stabilizing running shoes were $30!
