As a random semi-related confession, I am dreading when DS starts K next year because I'll have to pack his lunch. It just seems like so much work lol.
This was the biggest thing I was worried about when we started preschool this week. Lunches AND breakfast. We got bento boxes, sold our soul to Costco, and it hasn't been nearly as annoying as I expected, at least the first week. The bentos are key because I don't have to think about variety or portions.

Public schools there don't provide lunch? Hell no.
Our schools provide lunch but it's pretty dreadful. And I don't even mean nutritionally -- because it's pretty bad at that too.

I could have written this post! I actually think the bento boxes make it easier because you aren't dealing with containers or sandwhich bags.

I have literally packed the same thing for DD1 for the past 2 weeks. lol. She's had PB&J, cubed cheese, carrot sticks, and grapes. I might go crazy and pack strawberries next week instead of grapes.
She did get cinnamon swirl bread the first week. I set her expectations too high.
