Ok. So you have one hour to use clues in a room to find the code that unlocks the door. The door is locked shut, but you can hit a panic button to leave if you have an emergency.
We had a Sherlock Holmes themed room, and there were 4 stations of "puzzles". The room was filled with clues that coordinated to each color. We had to search high and low to find the clues. They were over all kinds of stuff. Like, marked passages in books and under tables and stuff. A bunch of clues fit into an equation which led you to the next puzzle. It was very, very cool and an amazing team building activity.
There is an instructor in the room to guide you, but not help you.
We were split into two teams and true to laz form I was incredibly competitive and loved every minute.

I did this last year at my friend's bachelorette party. She doesn't drink, so Escape the Room it was, and it was as much fun as something can be without alcohol. lol
I took my family to do this for Christmas last year. We had so much fun! Way more than any of us expected. Ours was set up a little differently than yours it seems. I would definitely do it again.
My friends have talked about it but I'm so controlling and anxious that I think I probably wouldn't have friends after we left.
LOL - this would be me. My competitiveness would go into over drive. However...now that I'm thinking about it, I should just get high before we go in - that may solve everything!
My H and I did the Great Escape Room with 4 other strangers and we also loved it! We finished with like 14 seconds. We went back a few weeks later to do the game room and it was just us and we didn't finish. we weren't stuck, just ran out of time! I think if we had like more mins we would have had it. My H now wants to open up an escape room business, lol.
Edit: we also did a room with another company and it was super easy and we finished with like 15 mins to go. The Great Escape Room have the best and most complex rooms, I think.

There is one an hour from me.
My coworker went with a group, she didn't know what to expect. They loved it! In fact, in the last couple of months, they have gone back probably at least five times.
Just thinking about these rooms FREAK ME OUT. I think I would die.
I had a panic attack going in because my trigger is being in a place I can't leave. But the girl showed me how to get out if I need to and assured me it wouldn't dq everyone else. Then once we got started I got distracted and didn't panic anymore.

Yep, same here.
I forgot that the door was locked and what we were working towards. I just kept focusing on figuring out the puzzles and clues.
My cousin's boyfriend works for one in LA and they go around trying all the escape rooms around. I've gone with them a couple of times and it's been so fun! They mostly seem to be in the middle of nowhere We've passed all but one room. One, The Basement (https://thebasementla.com) we escaped with less than a minute left on the clock. The one room we didn't solve, The Hex (https://www.crossroadsescapegames.com), was really great and I'm sad we didn't solve it in time! Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I really enjoy puzzles and these games are my jam. I'm just sad they can be so expensive!

I love escape the rooms! We've done 3 and are doing another one in about a month. We've done one in a spaceship, one in a library and one in an apartment.
Apparently in NY it's illegal to actually lock you in a room. So next to the locked normal door, there's like a mini door that's unlocked at all times that you can use.

We're supposed to be doing that for a team building at our meeting in December, but now it might be an all team meeting somewhere else. I want to do it!
We did this at work. The place was so new they only had 1 room open so we had to split into 2 groups. I had a lot of fun but a couple of the people in my group (one in particular) was sooooo over it by the time we finished. Our team beat the other team by like 8 minutes so we got bragging rights.
My friends have talked about it but I'm so controlling and anxious that I think I probably wouldn't have friends after we left.
Lol! Me too seriously. I tried getting people at work to do it as like a team/dept outing and I think they all got scared. They had wicked wtf faces on when I was explaining about it. Sounds fun but I can see myself getting controlling quick if circumstances are right.
