It's going to be hot and humid again but I think the weekend should be nice here. Except MH is still sick (getting better though) so we won't do much if anything.
I am full of complaints though. You've been warned...
I pulled a muscle in my neck and it hurts. It's not awful but it's not great.
I feel "mommy tracked" at work. Which sure, it's nice that I can ease into things, but I am asking for work. Sigh.
<There used to be a vent here. I've decided to move on, thanks for the support (heart) >
There's been a million and one pics going around Facebook since the flood, different variations of the shape of Louisiana with different sayings and hashtags and all that. This is the first one that made me actually laugh out loud because it's so true, and it's what everyone's house looks like right now.
raangoli, sorry about your dad. I've been dealing with parental care shit recently, too, and it blows.
My random is that we just sent money to help out my SIL, who's husband is having medical issues right now. I am grateful that we are able to help (despite all of DH's whining about being underpaid, if you read my other thread, lol), but sad that they are in this position when I know they want to be having a kid and not paying 5 figures of medical bills. They have done it to themselves to a large extent, but I still feel for them.
cajunmom, how are things going? I've been thinking of you.
raangoli, all I can offer are sympathies. I am sorry you are faced with this issue.
My niece is coming over tonight and we are having chili and watching movies while Mr. P and her boyfriend go to a movie we don't care about. I love being with her.
mbcdefg - Were you at the history making Bruce concert? They said the one on Tuesday night was his longest in the US or something? I thought of you when I heard that. I hope you're enjoying your long weekend!
I played hooky today. It is super hot here. I am going to yoga then to our massive version of the fair with my friend. It's food truck weekend which means I am going to eat all the food. I am dog sitting tomorrow and so excited! He's a mini version of my dog and they're gonna be so cute together.

Hugs, raangoli. I am getting there with my parents too. Their last visit had me parenting them and my two kids. It's not something I imagined I would be doing so soon and it makes me worried about their future.

Oh, and my Friday random. I went to the hair salon to get my hair bleached for my blue highlights. The lady didn't carry blue and said people here (Greenwich) don't do colors. She had her hair slightly red and had to change it because she is also a realtor. Wonder how they are going to react to my blue???
10 months after my craigslist search for a road bike began (I had some very specific requirements but couldn't pull the trigger on spending $800 on a bike) I finally found EXACTLY what I was looking for. I am over the moon thrilled.

I freaking love my job. We're at the satellite office by my house today (so i got to sleep in for an hour!!!) and my boss said "Don't even turn on your computer bc we aren't doing any work today. We're going to meetings, taking a long lunch, coming back for the party that will have cake, and then going home by 2"
I'm really excited about this weekend. My mom and I are going for a mani/pedi/lunch tomorrow and then we're going to shelters so she can hopefully adopt a dog. Then I'm just packing and prepping for my business trip.
Thanks everyone. I was just blindsided by that this morning and I just couldn't deal.
I'm sorry you have to deal with a similar situation @undeprotest on top of the craziness that has been your life these past few months. And they will just have to deal with your blue hair!
Pom, things are okay. Still hard to take in the scope of things but making a lot of progress at my mom's and sister's houses. Now it's just a waiting game...waiting for it to dry, waiting for inspections, waiting for insurance adjusters.

Thanks. I lost it on my parents when they couldn't figure out what to feed my kids for dinner. Uhm, look in the cabinet??? That was just the straw that broke the camel's back after my dad having to be told a million times to not do something. It was like having four kids to deal with instead of my normal two. Being so far away for a couple years just highlighted how they have aged. And now they are a 12 hour drive away so not easy to check on (and I'm physically closer to them than my sibling).
I will say that I don't have it nearly as bad as my brother in law. My father in law is a stubborn mule and has some serious health and mental issues that have to be dealt with. Just another reason I will not live in my husband's home town.

Yes, I was at last night's show. It was really good. We went with friends and beforehand we tailgated with my sister and her friends. Thanks for asking!
MH took care of his dad's health appointments/meds for years (and also helped his mom a lot when she was sick) ... I'm sorry, I know it can be overwhelming <3
