I personally don't like it when people put words in my mouth and insist I sign it with my name. Even if I totally agreed with what she had to say, and it wasn't "crazy", I'd still struggle with it. I think you did the best you could given the parameters she set - that is, the preface.

That seems kind of odd to me. I mean, wouldn't boss's name carry a lot more authority than yours? Our admins regularly send emails signed with boss's name at the end, so it seems pretty normal to do that.
Exactly...so it was probably something that was crappy, crazy, micromanaging, whatever the case may be...and the boss didn't want to have to be the bad guy. I'd absolutely have prefaced it in that scenario. I'll send what you want, but if you're going to be crazy, I don't want people thinking I'm the crazy one.
