Has anyone fought one successfully? Supposedly I was going 50 in a 30 but it was heavy traffic (I drive this route daily and never get about 35). The cop said he supposedly radar gunned me. I really really do not want to pay it and go shopping tax free in Portland instead.

That's a big one! I would fight it--you may be able to get it knocked down, at least. Or the cop might not bother to show up, in which case you get off. I have seen that happen occasionally.
I believe one of the things you can make them double-check is when the last time the gun was calibrated was.

Although I have received tickets for speeding, regardless if I was or not, I ALWAYS go to court and fight them. The cop needs to show up. He needs to provide proof his radar gun was routinely maintained and that he's certified to use it. Also, if you have no previous infractions, the judge may, at the very least, remove the points from your record.

I've never gotten a speeding ticket when I wasn't speeding so I've always paid them. I think I've gotten two in my life. I pay them because I feel like it is the right thing to do.

I would go to court. It would at the very least probably get reduced. In WA State if you do not have any tickets in the past you can ask for a deferment. If you do not get any more tickets in a year ( I think this is the time period) it goes off your record. If you do then you have to have to pay both and have both on your record.
