My DH went to a top 15 MBA program at a brick and mortar school. I don't think 75% of his classmates had $100K+ jobs upon graduation. I would be shocked if that were the case for U of Phoenix or some of the other schools you listed. My BIL got his MBA from UNC a couple years ago and was unemployed for almost a year after graduation, before finally taking a $10/hour job.

My DH works in pharma with a MS (but no MBA). He often considers going back to get his MBA but he's employer would pay for 100% of it. He would only go to Kellogg or Booth because he thinks it's only worth it, to get it from a top school.
However, he is still on the fence because he is still recruited quiet a bit and hasn't seen his lack of an MBA prevent his career development. So my suggestion would be to only get his MBA if he can get part of it paid for and it you can go to a top tier school
DH's MBA would be worthless if he tried to get employment from it. He wanted the knowledge to apply to his current business, so he went local and cheap. He wasn't trying to change careers. Oh and his employer paid.

I'm doing my MBA online through Colorade State. I like the program, it has a great reputation, it has a bricks and mortar school and my total bill is about half the $80-90K you are quoting. There are good, less expensive options out there to look into.
I would only pay for MBA myself in this situation if it was at a very excellent school. Top 10? Top 5 even?
If he is already in the position to make $75-$100K, I think he will be disappointed once he goes through an MBA to the tune of spending OOP $100-$200K.
I would not pay $80-90K for the schools you mentioned. No way.
I can't answer whether the degree itself would be worthwhile for him, but there are other distance options besides for-profit schools. One I know of off the top of my head is my alma mater, Washington State University. They have a very well-respected online MBA program. It actually has the most competitive admissions process of any distance MBA program. Edit: U.S. News ranking info... www.usnews.com/education/online-education/washington-state-university-OBUS0832/mba

If he wants to go in house at a big pharma company, he could possibly do so through one of their management training programs after school, but IME they tend to recruit from very specific schools (Wharton, Dartmouth, Duke seem to be the big ones with my client, with a few University of MI people thrown in). No U of Phoenix.
