So we just purchased a ipad last week to replace out dead house laptop (we already have work laptops and a imac in case we need a full computer) and we are traveling on a road trip in a couple of weeks. I would like to have it in the car so my toddler can watch some of her shows on it.
What is the best way (or source) to download kids show to a laptop? It's a wifi model so we can't stream.. are you able to download from netflix?

You would have to buy them from iTunes most likely. That or if you have DVDs burn them to a computer and then sync the computer with the iPad (which is illegal-ish, but whatever). Streaming services are just that -- streaming. They won't let you download a copy.
Download the Netflix app, yes you can steam any of their content if you have a Netflix account.
I think by WiFi model she means she has WiFi only...so she won't have reception in the car to stream unless she does something super-fancy like using her cell phone to set up a mobile hotspot.
Itunes is the easiest. I haven't tried amazon but there may be a way to do that. If you have DVDs you can probably rip the DVD into itunes and then transfer onto the ipad as well.

Thanks for the input. Yes it's WiFi only but we do have iphones, however, neither of us has ever used the phone as a mobile hotspot. I was hoping their was a site like Rhapsody for videos where you can download a song (or show in this case) to your device as long as you have a paid subscription.
I would just download a few from iTunes. Streaming stinks while driving. We have several shows downloaded but DS prefers the Disney Junior app (which is great, and free). Sometimes it is fine, but often it losing connections while moving around on 3g and he starts complaining from the backseat/shopping cart/etc.
Download from iTunes. You can also purchase from Amazon and download, fwiw. If you use your mobile as a hotspot, unless you have a data plan that permits it, you're going to have hella charges on your next bill for data usage. DH learned that the hard way.
Because I'm grandfathered into the Verizon unlimited (for now) I bought a mobile hotspot when I went to my dad's. It was $100 for the hotspot plus a $50 card to pay for the $35 unlimited use for a month charge (the remaining $15 is on my account for one year.) I could add a "hotspot" charge and used my phone but it would have rescinded the contract. If you want to stream and otherwise can't that might be an option.
