Does anywhere else do this? Or just this wacky town? lol
I teach in a rural, farming community. I just got a digital flyer for a fundraiser for a local charity. It's a cow poop drop. There is a huge bingo-like grid laid out in a cow pen. You pay $25 for each square you want, and if the cow poops on your square first, you win (it's a 50/50 type thing).
I mean, raising money for charity is awesome. But I am LOL at this type of fundraiser. It is taking place at a local festival in town, and it sounds like it has been going on for years but I'm just hearing about it now.
This used to happen at one of the fairs near my family's town in CT. I don't know if they do it anymore, but definitely a thing up there in the late 80s/early 90s.

The local HS is doing one. This is the first time I've heard about it. H and I bought 4 squares just to see what it's about. They were $5 each and you can win $1,000
My town does it, they also have little rides and games and stuff, like a fair. We call it cow poop day(I don't know if it's actually called that but that's what we call it).
Huh I had never heard of this. My county fair never had this (I live in a different city than where I work).
My school's FFA also raffles off a live pig each year. I was shocked at this my first year teaching when a student asked me if I wanted a ticket lol. Now I know this is common too.

My friend's sorority did it for a fundraiser. I live in suburban GA, so it was really random. And once the cow escaped, and it took them several hours to find it and get it back.

The last school district I worked in, one of the high schools did this as a fundraiser. It definitely is not a rural or farming town by any means. I thought it was weird, but the school makes a ton of money from it.
