Portland had a really short summer and I'm already back to wearing my rainy weather shoes, which are Dr. Martens lace up boots. Aside from being kind of inconvenient, due to lacing up to my calf, they're also proving painful for my feet this year. I've had them for several years, and might just need to get some insoles, but after walking ~6 miles in the last two days, mostly with a baby on my back, I'm feeling uncomfortable. Currently, my shoe situation is those boots, low top converse, and some tevas sandals, so my boots are the only rainy weather friendly shoes I have.
What are your cold/rainy weather shoes? I walk everywhere, so they need to be waterproof shoes and comfortable for long periods of being on foot. Save me, shoe savvy people. Also, thanks in advance.
I wear Bogs when it's wet out and I'm not concerned about fashion. Prior to getting those I had a pair of rubber rain boots that weren't as comfy but kept my feet dry.
Last year I got a pair of Blondo brand booties that are waterproof and fashionable, but they're not as comfortable...I managed my formerly 1.5 mile daily commute walk in them just fine, but I wasn't lugging a child.
I wear the tall version of these for walking in the snow. They're expensive, but mine are now 10 years old and going strong, so they're worth the investment. You could probably find them on consignment pretty easily where you are. Crazy comfortable, waterproof, and while they're not overly attractive, they could be worse. I wear my hunter rain boots for rain, but it rarely rains here and I couldn't walk miles in them- not enough support.
The last couple years I've worn Bogs along with some good insoles. Good for rainy/slushy/snowy weather. Though might be a bit warm if it hasn't cooled off for you yet.
