Anyone else feel like the writer pitched this as "I'm going to make a show about eczema. It will be clear I don't know what I'm talking about for almost everything - the law, the medicine, the behavior of the participants, everything. But it'll be a police procedural so it'll get viewers. Wanna buy it?"
(we are watching the last episode right now and yet again we keep yelling at the tv)
I don't even know where to post an intro here! I was on TK/TN/TB since 2003, mostly local boards. I was m_and_m.
"I speak without reservation from what I know and who I am. I do so with the understanding that all people should have the right to offer their voice to the chorus whether the result is harmony or dissonance. The worldsong is a colorless dirge without the differences that distinguish us, and it is that difference that should be celebrated not condemned." -Ani Difranco
Or how about how Naz went from goody two shoes to The Wire in like 3 weeks? Lol!
YES. I was confused by the timeline at first because he changed so fast. Like, you haven't even been convicted her and you've got prison tats now.
Yep. We were yelling at the screen: what kind of idiot shaves his head before trial? what kind of idiot gets tattoos ON HIS HANDS AND NECK before trial?

We binged watched the first 6 on Sunday. It gets my attention. I was also wondering how he went from skinny good shoes to bulked up shaved head and tattoos. I keep thinking he will get his memory soon. But it makes you realize one wrong decision can have some serious consequences.
Or how Chandra went from serious lawyer to smuggling drugs in her vagina and making out with her client in like 2 episodes?
I found her story line really off putting. She was youn, smart and full of promise and then went off track because of a cute boy that gave her some attention?

Yeah, this part made NO sense to me at all. They didn't even set up the flirtation well, IMO. It seemed like it came out of nowhere.
I actually really liked this series, but I completely agree there were some weird jumps in there. I wonder if they would have made more sense if the series had been longer. It seemed like they tried to cram a lot of character development into 8 hours.

It was totally weird, the entirety of the show. But I still liked it.
I will say this, putting drugs in my vagina is where I would draw the line. I'd absolutely sleep with Nas with the neck tattoo, but no to the baggies in the vag.
Hmmm. Maybe I should invent some sort of tampon-like drug smuggling device.
I liked the series bc I thought it was a great example of how some small bad decisions can ruin your life. But the timeline was way off with the shaving his head and the tattoos etc. I mean I get that prison you have to get hard etc.. But here is this nerdy little intellectual and boom a few weeks later he is doing hard drugs getting tattoos etc.
I do wish they would have made it a longer series bc they could have done so much more. And the eczema story line I thought was kinda annoying but it tied in well with him being all alone and being viewed as a freak etc.
I didn't read this thread, because we just started watching it...but I'm sure I'll be back next week.
We just finished watching it tonight. I thought there was more than 8 episodes. Lots of thoughts.
Naz is now an addict, so he's free, but not really. It's sad his mom didn't trust he was innocent. Eczema. Chandra, girl...No. The financial planner did it. More eczema. I loved the cat.
I totally agree that the actions of Chandra were completely unbelievable from what they showed us of her character. But Naz was slightly more believable to me once they revealed he had been selling drugs in college and had been violent in the past. Initially he seemed like a little bit of an outsider with the team he helped and was so excited to be invited to that party. I think he just wants to be in with cool guys wherever he is and the pressure to do that in prison must be unreal.
