I realize that there are several days for the forecast to change, but I feel like I need to prepare. What the eff do it if it's raining? Can I body glide my feet? Anything special I should do? Educate me.
Current forecast is high of 78 and 60% chance of rain

Only done a half in the rain, but I would put vaseline on my feet. Body Glide wouldn't be enough. Vaseline or bodyglide everything other place that touches your skin. I hope the forecast changes.
Me! I did nothing differently. I use a bunch of body glide or aquaphor in the normal spots. Not my feet, b/c I'm an oddball and actually get blisters when I do that. I wear a brim visor. I might get rain for my ultra too. Mud and wet rocks should be fun!
ETA: actually we have the same exact forecast. Whatever you get Saturday, should be my weather for Sunday. Send me something good

Yeah I've never done anything to my feet so maybe I shouldn't try it on Saturday.

I've only done a half or so in the rain. I didn't do too much different, a hat helped with water not being in my face. I do put a blister preventer on my feet for longer runs anyway, but it helps with moisture as well.

What is the blister preventer?
I always run with a hat anyways, so that's all good.

I body glide my feet for all my long runs (I have blister prone areas). I don't know that would help in rain but it's never caused any bad issues for me.
Do you have somewhere sheltered while you wait before the race starts. I figure once I'm running there's not a ton you can really do, but definitely want to keep dry beforehand as much as you can. Hopefully it ends up not raining anyways though!

Not really. We have a parking pass so when we get there, I could hang out in the car for awhile but eventually I would have to make my way to the start

Depending on how hard it's raining and how long you have to be out there...id think about some stuff to wear overtop to keep you dry that you can toss or put in your drop bag.

I ran Boston in the rain! A hat / visor is a must. Other than that, I was extra liberal with the body glide (including butt crack - you guys know I have butt crack chaffing issues!). Wear a garbage at the start and toss it right before you take off to stay warm / dry while you're waiting. Gear check a bag with dry clothes (including bra / underwear / flip flops) for after and get out of your wet clothes ASAP. Fingers crossed that the weather gods will be kind!

Yes, I have. I agree with all of the advice about using lots of anti-chafing products and wearing a hat or visor. I also brought and wore my rain jacket and kept it on as long as possible before checking it in my bag before the start. A trash bag also works, but I liked wearing my rain jacket because it also helped to keep my head dry.

I was once told to use Desitin covered with baby powder. It works amazing. I've done long runs (I think 18 is my longest) and half marathons in the rain and haven't blistered with it.
Ditto wearing the garbage bag to the start. Have a full change of EVERYTHING to change into at the end. You can get cold so fast soaking wet after that.
Yes. 16-18 miles of mine was in the rain. I wore shorts, thankfully no chafing. I am always liberal with the body glide, and wore a visor. I got hot and then cold a lot, so be prepared for that.
MCM was raining until the bridge. It really didn't make any difference. I took a bag for beforehand and that was nice, but my feet were soaked at mile 4. I mean...what are you gonna do? Make sure to have a brimmed hat!

Ditto jordylee with the hat/visor and also asscrack body glide (there's a cream that is a bit more helpful for this area...).
I chafed on the tops of my thighs during a rainy 18 mile run so like really, body glide everything. Parts that you've never body glided before. I was wearing tight shorts that went to mid thigh.

I ran a half marathon in torrential rain and wind. I body glided everywhere and still chafed around my bra. I wore a trash bag for most of the race and it was really helpful. I still got wet but I think it helped cut the wind so I never got cold. I'd have your DH have a towel or blanket waiting for you to wrap yourself in until you change. I got cold super fast and the EMTs noticed and gave me a sheet.
wambam,I'm right there with you, 75% chance of thunderstorms all morning. Makes sense, since I get your weather the following day. I've raced in drizzle before, which I don't mind (hello cloud cover)but full on rain and thunderstorms are a new one on me. I'll bring a garbage bag to the start but probably ditch it eventually because I roast when I run. Just planning to bodyglide the shit out of everything, wear my hat, and hold on for the ride.
I did my 3rd one in the rain. But it down poured for only about 5-6 miles of my race. My feet were definitely wet. I didn't do anything special. I probably wore capri pants rather than shorts just because.
You will be fine! Also, even if you're not and you chafe everywhere, you will have just done a marathon
I'm debating this whole Capri thing. It could prevent a lot of chafing, but I haven't run anything over 13.1 in capris. It could be a disaster. IDK.
This is where I am too- I wear shorts for everything above 40, lol. Our temps are still projected to be mid-60s into 70 and I'm afraid I'll get really uncomfortably hot if the rain stops. I think I am going to take my chances and just lube up.
Have any of your training runs been in the rain before? If so, do exactly that! I'm a big proponent of nothing new on race day.
If not, my best advice is a hat/visor. Wear tight clothes. Body glide everything (except I don't do feet). Trash bag before race. Ziplock bag your phone (if you carry one with you).
