I brought my vinyl Longchamp bag to a show last night and set it on the floor under my seat. Midway through the show, MH whispered, "Check your bag ... someone sitting above us must have spilled beer on the ground because my feet are wet."
Sure enough, the bottom of my bag got wet with beer ... it's dry now, and the inside didn't get damaged, but now there are stains reaching up on both sides. Ugh.
Blue Dawn does get a lot of things out. Some people say you can put it in the washing machine, but I am skeptical. I'm sorry that happened. Is it a light color bag that you have?
Also, that reminds me of the movie "Leap Year" where Declan tells Anna that she should put things in the wash and they will be "grand". (I watched the movie again this weekend.)
I have the khaki green color ... so not light, but not really dark enough to hide the stain. I'll have to grab a pic when I get home tonight.
I was also hoping I could throw it in the wash on gentle cycle or something (because I'm lazy and don't want to hand wash), but that'd probably mess up the leather straps and closure, I imagine :/
mbcdefg Yea, as much of a PITA it is to hand clean, I'd do that over the washing machine. Leather in the machine just doesn't seem like a good idea at all.
And if it happens to also smell like beer (probably, right?) I've heard good things about leaving things in the sun and that helps remove the smell.
Try Wool Light, and gently scrubbing it from the inside to get the smell and stains out.
And I'd try tossing it in the dryer in a lingerie bag or drying it with a handbag so you don't get the "outline" of the water on the bag (if that makes any sense).

Longchamp has a cleaner for these bags. I bought some because I have a light blue bag. They definitely do not recommend putting it in the washer because of the leather. You may be able to get away with a diluted mild soap and water solution. I wouldn't immerse the bag though.
Thanks! Do you have a link to the cleaner? I can't seem to find it using Google.
@kirkette , Yelp is saying there's a cobbler in my area* that repairs handbags so maybe I'll take it there and ask. Thanks!
*It's actually close to where MH works, so maybe I'll ask him to take it there and get it cleaned for me as a birthday present, lol.
Shoot. I actually bought it in a Longchamp store and can't find it on their website. Is there a store close to you?
I don't think there's a Longchamp store near me, but maybe Nordstrom or Bloomingdale's would have it? I live in the Land Of Malls so it shouldn't be too hard to find someplace.
