Time to start planning for my gingerbread house submission! The theme is "the art of the holidays" My idea is making my house be an "ugly Christmas sweater factory". I need ideas.
Hmm I'm thrown off by the theme! I like your idea but not sure it's themey?
I know, the theme is strange and I've thought about it for a month! I googled "holiday art" and this came up. I don't think I can use it for inspiration:
I would pick an artist and decorate accordingly. Like a French cottage and add a bridge and water lily pads and pastel colors- like Monet. Or a Russian building with cool towers and bright bold colors with like Marc Chagall or make it look like a story quilt like Faith Ringgold. So many choices!

Aaaaaand Go! Lol.
See, I immediately envisioned a classic gingerbread house, but deconstructed and flattened Picasso style. But I'm admittedly a little weird....
nannerl that is a really neat idea! I wonder if I can pull it off...
Maybe construct a frame and then decorate and layer the different pieces in that? It would still be somewhat 3 dimensional, but not a free standing structure. It would certainly get the "art" idea across...
