Anyone's kid been diagnosed with that? I think we need to take him to the doc. He has been coughing on and off for weeks now. At least a month. It goes away then comes back. Last night it sounded barky but It doesn't always. Usually it's pretty dry sounding though and some nights I get frightened as it seems he can't get his breath
I called before I left and they said call if it persists another two weeks
He also sometimes does this wheezy thing... But he's laughing when he does it so I thought maybe he's just fooling around. I don't know!
Since there is no fever or other symptoms I'm figuring asthma seems somewhat likely.
I feel sad because I'm picturing him being dogged by Asthma now his whole life:(
My boys both have it. We would watch DS2 closely for belly breathing. (His stomach would really retract when he was having troubke moving air.) We have inhalers, and a nebulizer. The nebulizer works great for us. We also have to stay on top of allergy meds. If we miss a dose, we can tell. DS2 started having issues at 14 months. DS1 was diagnosed much later, I think age 6.5 or 7. (My memory is fuzzy, sorry)
I just posted yesterday about something similar with X. He woke up really scared 3am Wednesday morning bc he was having a coughing fit that wouldn't end and he couldn't catch his breath. I was thankful we had a nebulizer in the house since it helped almost immediately. Otherwise we probably would've ended up in the ER.
The pedi didn't find anything wrong with him yesterday, other than somewhat low oxygen levels (92%), and suggested continuing to preventatively use the nebulizer for the next week or so.
I would bring him in and see, especially if you don't already have a nebulizer on hand. We don't have an inhaler for him, but we might need to ask about that soon if it continues to be a problem.

I don't have any experience with asthma, but W has been coughing for about a month. No fever just the cough. The ENT said he has seen a lot if this because the mold spore count is so high in our area.

How is he feeling?
Charlie has asthma. It gets worse when he's sick and comes and goes. We have a nebulizer for when its really bad and a rescue inhaler if we need it. He may outgrow it, but might not.
I took William to the pedi yesterday and he doesn't think he has asthma. He said the lungs sound clear though he does have quite a bit of nasal inflammation. He thinks seasonal allergies and wants us to give him childrens Claritin once a day until the weather is cold. $20 for 20 pills, woo. Better than dealing with asthma though. If he still is symptomatic in winter after we stop the Claritin, they would then test for other allergies I think.
I was worried it was something in our home .. like mold, dust. Sometimes I feel so guilty because of the lack of cleanliness in our house. We don't live in filth, it's clean enough generally but there is a lot of dog hair, dust etc. it's hard to keep on top of it all. And I have no idea how to check if there is mold in the house ... I don't see anything... but could it be in the vents??
I'm allergic to dog. And we found out after we had our dog for a few years. We just couldn't give him away so I live on allergy meds. He's getting older now and I'm sad for the time when he's not around anymore. I love him! But also sort of looking forward to maybe feeling a little better
