As I said in the other thread, I saw it and took it that she was quoting solange from her blog. That doesn't make it ok and it should never be used anywhere. We are all responsible to make sure that words like that are never welcome or used on our board. We have all failed today.
As for silence, I just got kids to bed and haven't been on since my H is not here tonight.
I don't know about a private board but I assume there are some PMs. The silence is loud
EnchantedSoul and I are used to it. It doesn't even sting anymore.
I don't know what to say other than I'm sorry and you have every right to be angry. I know I've gotten so used to posting racial threats on the CEP board, I never thought it necessary to repeat the same things over on this board.
I think for a lot of us, myself included, there is a shameful mix of cowardice and apathy--or rather, an apathy that we allow to stop us from working to overcome the cowardice.

I honest to God didn't see that thread until today when the call outs started. However, I don't pretend to be innocent. I admitted earlier that if I had seen it, I couldn't say for sure that I would have spoken up. That makes me feel like a complete asshole. And it makes me feel like a fucking sheep.

I read Tamb's post before I read the article and I, too, thought it was a quote from the essay. That's a stupid excuse and I apologize for even making it.
crap. I read the link when rjamz posted it but didn't get a chance to respond. I saw that the thread was still active, and was actually thinking that we were having a positive discussion on it.

Let's be real, no one cared because it's Tamb. If it was another poster, you guys would have grabbed your torches. Be honest, it A didn't bother you and B really didn't bother you because it was her.
Wow. I've obviously missed a lot of things and need to do some reading. Disappointed doesn't even begin to cover it. Nauseated is closer, but insufficient.
Ugh I can't believe I missed this right above my own post. I'm so mad at myself. Also there's no point in arguing or making excuses or pointing fingers at each other . The people who chose to ignore the thread till now and are all, oh how could that happen , are just as bad. We are all a bunch of privileged, white women who constantly make asses of ourselves. I feel like it's gone too far, like how does our board even go on from here honestly .

I'm going to politely disagree artgal84 with the "who did what doesn't matter narrative" at least for rjamz and myself.
As members of a group that has been marginalized, discriminated against and even killed for our beliefs, actions that in some way perpetuate hate can not be just brushed aside.
rjamz knows she effed up, she even said it. But there needs to be a connection to how we act on this board to our real lives.
But you're right imimahoney. I understand the connection between my reaction to what Trump's son did by just casually dropping "firing up the gas chambers" and this. I was outraged over that and fuck me if I just let this slide. Words mean something

Yes because you too are racist. You can own that.
How's that for a word that causes a visceral reaction?
You are correct. What I did was disgusting and I'm ashamed of myself
