I was going to post something navel gazing about my dad, but instead, I wanted to thank you ladies for your support last year. It meant the world to me.
Today is going to be a veritable food fest in his honor, we're starting the day with bacon and eggs, then for lunch we're having Wendy's, then for dinner we're going to Texas Roadhouse. I have actually stopped taking my metabolism medications for the last two days so this amount of carbs doesn't make me seriously ill. LOL It never hurts to be prepared.
This weekend, I don't know if we have actual plans. I need to do some shopping for my trip next week (anyone in ATL want to GTG?) and R is going to spend the weekend continuing to load and organize crap into the shed (OMG, this is a ridiculously slow process), but otherwise, I think I'm going to continue working on some sewing/crafty projects I've had on the back burner for a while.

Post away Mrs. J - I think an honorary food fest is a fitting tribute for most occasions
Our friends decided not to have a pool party, which is probably a good thing for us getting stuff done. We're running out of weekends... DH has to put the infant bases in the car. I need to clean a bunch of baby gear (including said car seat).
Fri-Sun punch list:
- Nursery: Raise crib, iron crib skirt, shop for accents a Michaels, hang organize clothes - basement: finish painting stair risers, sand small stair rail, hang new sliding doors, hang some art, move furniture, etc. - DS's room: Paint DS's closet, haul stuff out of there, organize, assemble closet shelving, paint/tape accent color above bed The above is probably too ambitious (and there's even more to do!), but it would be amazing to finish the above tasks.

mrs.jacinthe, - It's not navel gazing! The food fest sounds amazing. Get a frosty for me!
My parents are coming today with the bed for the guestroom. I'm excited to get that room put together.
Work-wise we have been getting some AMAZING project lately! I'm working on 10 tactile paintings for the National Gallery, talking maps for Google, a festival map for the new National Museum of African American History and Culture, and a talking exhibit for a national park in Oklahoma, and a talking model for the Smithsonian! Holy shit typing that out freaks me out. I should not be messing around on here!

I hear you on that. We still don't have DH's office set up and the end doesn't seem to be in sight.
We did finally get him out there working, (Yea!), but it it isn't really set up right and his printer, half of the tools that we plan to store out there and many boxes of books are still in the house. The wall mount for his monitors was delivered, but is still in the box. We are planning to hang that this weekend.
The Epcot Food & Wine Festival opened this week and we are going tomorrow. I don't really love going on weekends because it is so busy, but we signed up to see Elizabeth Faulkner give a demonstration, and in Oct we have another weekend food event that we paid for, so we'll at least be there a couple of times on weekends. I cannot wait to eat my way around the world, although it usually takes us several visits to try (almost) everything. Since I don't eat meat or chocolate it cuts my options down a bit, but with fish/seafood, meatless dishes, salads and desserts, I still have plenty to choose from. We may like to eat, but we are glad for annual passes and that we live near so that we don't have to try to have it all in one day.;p

I don't miss much fast food from the States (I rarely ate it) but I miss Wendy's frosties. With fries. Yum.
I am meant to go to a party tonight but I slept about 4 hours because it was seriously storming last night. I'm too exhausted to be social. Tomorrow I have a field hockey game and then meeting with the contractor to talk about our underfloor heating on the ground floor. Sunday we'll go to a quiz night at a pub with another couple.

LOL TBM , we did not always share the same tastes, for sure. Dad had weird food preferences - for example, I'm *boiling* the bacon, ick. I'm suffering through a couple pieces of lemon meringue pie for him (we started the food fest last night), and I *do not* like it. But bacon, eggs, Wendy's (frosty and Jr bacon cheeseburger), and Texas Roadhouse? Always ok, although I'm sure I'll regret this tomorrow.

The lemon meringue pie would be on my dad's list, as would eggs, but those would be the only things on the list that I would eat and/or enjoy, and the lemon meringue pie would have to be like my mom's, not like most restaurant LM pies....we are really picky about our lemon meringue pies in my family.
After 38 years of being red meat free, (a health related decision), there wouldn't be much on my dad's menu for me. My grandparents had a working cattle ranch, so my dad was big on beef....which probably wasn't actually the best thing for his health.

mrs.jacinthe , I don't know if you know what scrapple is, but it would be on my dad's list. Not my favourite. So good on you for eating the things he loved despite your own ick factor around them.

Confession: I love scrapple. There's a diner out here that does it really well, too.

I like your to-do list simpsongal. We really are close! I have a bunch of things I still want to do, but I feel like I hit a wall this week. I'm so tired.
