I'm so glad it's Friday bc I think I would explode if I had to do it all again tomorrow. I was so close to posting something on FB, but I have too many coworkers as friends, so you all get the pleasure of me venting here.
1. This freaking guy keeps scheduling meetings right over lunch. 11-1pm. And it's not even like lunch is served. Like they literally work through lunch every time. I tried to get him to move it to 9-11, but apparently, I'm the only one who eats lunch bc everyone else wanted to leave it. It's sooo freaking annoying! Work is stressful as it is, I cherish the hour of peace.
2. Why why why why can't people call in for conference calls on time? Like why?? I swear I spend the first 10 minutes of each conference call calling people on the other line or texting them to try and get them to call in. I'd have the calls without them if they weren't always *the* most important person who needed to be on the call. I swear I'm a professional baby sitter.
3. And then on top of me being already annoyed at having to herd the cats, everyone talks over each other on calls. Yes, I know sometimes there is a natural delay when people talk on their cells, but this was straight up interruption.
Well, I don't like my job but searching for a new job is just too scary since I don't feel competitive for anything I'd actually love to do, so better to stick with the one I don't like but that has a few coworkers who make it bearable than to deal with the scary of possibly changing into something I still don't like, but with worse coworkers and the 6month delay for healthcare to kick in, etc.
But dude, skipping lunch is no, no, nobeuno!! I get seriously PISSY when my blood sugar gets low, plus, losing out on the mid-day break of some peace and quiet? Uh-uh. Demand they pay for you lunch at LEAST if you have to give up your break!
Changing jobs is scary!! I don't know what I'd do if I had to start looking for a job. Ugh. The thought makes me cringe.
And yeah, I'm salary, so whether I work during lunch (or on weekends, nights, holidays, vacations) doesn't make a difference in my pay. Unfortunately, one of the projects I am working on is with a bunch of driven workaholics. Not that I am a slacker by any means, but my lunch time is necessary for my sanity! And I am the same way - I totally get cranky if I don't eat or my blood sugar is low.
Caryl, knowing where you work your lunch vent makes me laugh a little. ITA that if lunch meetings are taking place then lunch needs to be brought in or people need to be able to brown bag it and eat during the meeting.
Ironic, right?! I almost had a fit this AM bc I got a meeting invite for noon today. Then I realized it was noon eastern time so 11 my time. And I relaxed. But I did scream initially.

I will eat during a meeting if I have to, but I reeeeally cherish my quiet time. I started eating downstairs in our kitchen vs at my desk bc I'd get caught answering emails and taking phone calls.
