I have family coming over. Very casual and I could order take out.... Nothing too fancy or complicated. Inspiration? What is your go-to casual dinner for guests?
we had guests over for a casual dinner on our roof last week.
we made: pulled chicken sandwiches in the crockpot w/ fresh bakery rolls cut up veggies w/ greek yogurt onion dip cut up fruit kettle chips green salad roasted garlic potatoes alcohol
it was so easy and everyone seemed happy.
ETA: tonight we're going out for dinner. I will get either eggplant parm or pesto shrimp over linguine.

Rotisserie chicken from the grocery store, fresh bread with some kind of spread, a deli salad or green salad with good stuff on it (pecans, blue cheese, apples), fresh fruit, brownies.

starting to do winter foods this week, since the air is getting crisp in the morning and evening: pot roast and potatoes chicken soup baked spinach ravioli pork tenderloin
I'd grill some chicken and corn on the cob. Make a gorgeous tomato salad with lots of colorful tomatoes and fresh basil. Then I'd either make a potato salad if I was feeling ambitious, or just get a couple good breads from the local bakery to slice and share.
Stone fruit crisp with vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Were having friends over and were doing burgers and brats, I made potato salad and a grilled corn dish, baked beans. 7 layer dip as an appetizer, and homemade ice cream w cookies for dessert
This is a favorite but I made it last time family was over!
I decided on a tomato and avocado salad, corn on the cob, rice, chicken adobo, and peas. Mini veggie platter, a cheese dip, and crackers for apps. Ice cream, berries, and chocolate sauce for dessert!
