I will be in Dallas soon for a conference with my husband's job. They have several fun activities set up for us already but I think I will have some time the day we get there and possibly for some meals. Any recommendations for things to do/places to eat?
We are staying at the Sheraton downtown if that helps.

No kids .
It will be soon. I think the state fair was one of our fun options but I am doing a behind the scenes tour of the sports stadiums, a bbq tout (hubby chose that) and a tour of Fort Worth.
The first day we arrive (a Tuesday) we land around 9:30 am and are free aside from checking into hotel until about 5pm. Anything downtown worth seeing? Good place for lunch?
Dallas: Monkey King Noodle Co. Deep Ellum Brewery Brain Dead Brewery - SUCH good food even if you're not drinking! Pecan Lodge BBQ
(Where is your BBQ tour?! That's cool!)
Fort Worth: Lonesome Dove Woodshed
Love Deep Ellum. Brain dead looks great. Any other brewery recs? We have been to Dallas a bunch of times but not since I got into beer too. We are bringing DS for his first cowboys game next month.

I lurk and can answer this since I work with breweries around town .
In Dallas: Nobel Rey Community(we have the state fair beer called funnel cake that has been released) Peticolas Texas Ale Project Oak Highlands Lakewood Deep Ellum Bishop Cider is a few miles outside of downtown proper in an area called Bishop Arts.
Fort Worth: Martin House Collective Brewing Panther Island Rahr and Sons
Outside of the immediate DFW area: Grapevine Cobra
Grapevine has some nice wineries that are on the main street if that is something you would be interested in.
If you are here on a Saturday and free you could check and see if the brew bus is running, they take you to multiple breweries and you get 4 2oz tasters at each one and they give you an awesome lunch from one of the gastrpubs in Dallas.
Also, if you have any questions feel free to PM me.
Thanks! Brew bus sounds awesome but we'll have to save that for the next trip without DS. I'll check the others out.
