Does this sound like it would work?

I haven't been home a month, but I am already trying to plan my next visit. I have never rented points before and I am not 100% sure what it entails. We had free dining this stay and I am hoping to get it again. So let's say in a perfect world, free dining is available for my dates.

5 nights/6 days at Pop with dining plan (the credits would expire at midnight on the day you check out, right?) 
2 nights/3 days renting points for a savannah room at AK and paying for our meals for the day and a half. 

Could that work? Will they transfer your luggage from Pop to a DVC property? Do you see any other issues with this? I'd really like to stay at AK just to experience it once and it's too expensive for much more than that.

Eta: I could buy all of the tickets at once during my Pop stay, correct? Could I do Memory Maker for the whole trip?

Free dining at pop is the quick service plan, you'll need to upgrade to the regular dining plan if you want that. I've never done a split stay, but you can get tickets for the whole trip and memory maker is good for the whole trip as well.

I think it would work fine. We've done split stays several times w/o issue - they always transfer our stuff. I will say I find renting DVC points and certain resorts to be comparable to moderate prices.

they'll definitely transfer your stuff from pop to DVC. We loved our stay at AKL. So far it's been the favorite resort for our boys. For us the Savanna view was worth it.

Yes, They will transfer your stuff. Call early to have it moved. Your meals expire at midnight the morning after you check out ( meaning check out is at 4pm meals are good until 12am) so you COULD have dinner at The Mara your first night at AKL on credits.

You will want to eat all of the TS at AKL so budget enough for all the food there. Boma and Saana are awesome.
