i kind of think you (collective white people) SHOULD see these videos. i refuse to watch anymore because it is truly breaking me down, but you? watch. be outraged. get sick of it.
when (if?) enough white people get GOOD and sick of them? THEN. then maybe things will change.
I see what you're saying, and understand why that counsels not embedding them in posts or on FB, but (me and others) watching them. I hope that tipping point is soon.

I'm pretty fucking outraged and sick of them. I fear publishing them again and again just normalizes things for those who aren't outraged.

I want to see action. Real action.
I also wonder about the normalization of these videos. That is absolutely terrifying place for us to be in (as if it isn't already a gross world we live in).
I love when people get all delicate about the police brutality videos. This has nothing to do with them being posted here, for which I can understand the outrage. But bemoaning the fact that they're being widely disseminated in the media? Please. Build a bridge.
And the violence is already normalized. That's the whole point. So who gives a shit if the videos somehow further normalize (if that's even a thing) the brutality in the minds of people who didn't give a shit anyway. If it leads to escalation, well, things can escalate on both sides. Watch it, deal, and be ready for a riot near you.

I agree about the videos being embedded. I don't like when anything plays automatically or screen shots a moment. However, I for one am glad that this information is available via social media, should we seek it out. I said the other day that it makes me dizzy to think about the atrocities that were committed against citizens that were covered up, swept under the rug, or falsified before we had things like cell phone cameras and body cams. It's important to have access because of accountability. This is real, this is (has been) happening and it's the cold, hard brutal truth. While posting about it in a salacious manner is disgusting, bringing it to the attention of people who would otherwise not see it or turn a blind eye to it only helps to increase awareness of just how bad it is.

nope, sorry. See, a few white ladies are sufficiently aware and outraged, and are ready to move on to the action portion of the show. Never mind that the AA community finally gained a sliver of empowerment and the slightest hint of an upper hand in this struggle. The narrative isn't actually ours to write. So no more footage for you! It's for the best.

I hope this with all of my heart, but I'm starting to believe that real, systemic change is eons away, if it's even possible at all. If the murder of a fucking child didn't gain the outrage of even the most diehard Blue Lives Matter assholes, then what will? How the fuck is this not rock bottom for some folks? How are we this far gone?

To be clear, I think the videos should be disseminated widely.
And I agree with @stilljustash's point. People - white people specifically - should watch them.
I get super low and defeated when I've watched them. It's easier for me to move into the anger and action side of things when I read about them. It's like that with all news, not just police brutality related.
But that does not for one second mean I don't think they should be available.

don't hold your breath. Black people are only 12% of the population, and the country is barely integrated as it is. There are still large swaths of the US where I wouldn't dare step foot, and whose inhabitants rarely, if ever, interact with a POC. I don't even care about that, but then white people have the audacity and unmitigated gall to come into our community and murder us at their will and leisure. And that's just the violent tip of the racist iceberg. I'd love to know where all this change is going to come from.

I know you are right, and I can't find words to express how much I hate that this is reality. Millions of people in this country don't even want to admit that racism even exists, or they believe it exists, but that it isn't a widespread, systemic problem. I am related to some of these people. If we can't agree on THAT, with enough evidence to fill hundreds of books, well, then, fuck us.

or they know and don't care because it doesn't affect them negatively. They actually benefit from it, so where is the impetus to change? I think that's the majority, personally.

I liked this, but not because I like it.
It floors me the resistance to understand that our reality is not everyone's reality. I really do blame our parents (or, rather, white people's parents), in part, for teaching us that colorblind crap.
