I bought Throne of Glass based on all of you raving so hard about it, and it's been sitting in my kindle unread for months and months. I also just got A Court of Thorns and Roses from a library hold, again, based on all of you guys raving about it.
I read the description of the books, and I'm like, "Meh."
But you guys haven't steered me wrong with this stuff before, so I will give it a chance.
Which series do I start with? The fact that one is from the library and I own the other one should not factor into your decision. Just tell me which is the better series/which series will my non-fantasy-loving self probably enjoy more.
Ditto snshne322. Court of Thorn and Roses all the way. But keep in mind if after reading the first book you are still feeling 'meh' - still read the second book anyways. Because it's sooooo much better.

I've only read Throne of Glass, but I really enjoyed it! I remember not being excited about the explanation either, but once I started it, I was hooked. The relationships between the characters were what really were great to me.
I'd read Throne of Glass first. All of them. They are good and I've really enjoyed the series.
THEN read A Court of Thorns and Roses and A Court of Mist and Fury. The second book in this series is just SO good that anything you read after that will be a disappointment.

I think I totally agree with you here. Throne of Glass sat on my kindle for like a year, and when I finally read it I was pissed at myself for not reading it sooner - lol. I read A Court of Thorns and Roses while I waited for Empire of Storms and it was meh in comparison. But A Court of Mist and Fury came out first and I think we all know how that went! I haven't wanted to re-read a book in a long time and I'm forcing myself to wait until closer to the next one.

You really can't go wrong. Both series are excellent.
ACoTaR is a bit more romance. ToG is a bit more adventure. Both rely heavily on magic and fae fantasy elements, but ToG is focusing more on the power and abilities of the Fae, whereas ACoTaR spends as much time focusing on the power as the oddness (the species of fae, their skin, their eyes, their claws, their odd abilities). ToG seems like a world you could live in, like The Three Muskeeteers, except there happens to be some magic and witches and fae. ACoTaR is definitely an 'other' world, but there is a richness to it that's compelling. Both female characters claw themselves out of deep pits of despair and emotional trauma, which makes both female leads amazingly inspirational.
Thanks for all the input! I'm reading ACoTaR, but so far I'm only 8% through, because I keep falling asleep and haven't had a good chunk of time to read all this week. But so far, so good.
I started with A Court of Roses and Thorns. I'm on the library waiting list for Throne of Glass and A Court of Mist and Fury. I dont have a recommendation for which to start with but I really enjoyed ACORT.
