And I think that maybe I need to start. I have been using Laura Geller baked for 10 of those and generally like it. But I feel like maaaaaaybe at 52 I need slightly better coverage? If it helps, I have pretty good skin in the normal range, a few enlarged pores on my nose, and one tiny discolored spot that just appeared this year. I am fair skinned, but my body carries color, so I am guessing I need something a bit darker so I don't have a ghost face. I figure to start cheap and see how my skin feels and reacts, so recommend something under $10?
I'm growing older but not up. My metabolic rate is pleasantly stuck, let the winds of time blow over my head. I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead.

I would recommend trying out a BB cream. My favorite is the Skin79 Pink BB and is on Amazon usually for around $10. I've also seen great reviews for the new Covergirl Clean Matte BB but I haven't personally tried it.
I honestly think that as you get older, you don't want anything with too much coverage. I agree on the BB cream side. I like the Garnier BB Blur as an inexpensive BB in the summer as I'm too pale in the winter for it. My favourite, but pricier one, is Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder. The problem with BB creams is that they are harder to match the skin tone. I've gotten quite a few which are either too light or too orange...but I sometimes hold onto them to mix as the season move onward. My favourite winter cream is Misha BB cream (or I'll use the cushion foundation which is a lighter foundation)

I agree that the older you get the lighter you want to go. you.niq.ue has a liquid mineral foundation I really love. You can really build it up or go light. It looks so natural and that's why I like it...it's actually the only liquid I've really liked.
Clinique BB cream would also be good - breaks me out, but my favorite BB
Finally, Jane Iredale pressed mineral is amazing and my holy grail. I love it like crazy and can't be replaced. Plus it's got good, cleaner ingredients compared to most makeup

Lots of things go orange on me, so I have learned to be super careful. I think I am not quite as fair as you are because of where I live, but my natural color is close. I always carry a bit of color these days. But thanks for the reminder and the brand comments.

I have a cousin who sells this, I might chat with her when I see her in two weeks.
For cheap, I always use Revlon colorstay. I think it is comparable to estee lauder double wear.
Okay, with the overwhelming vote for a BB cream, I went and read reviews on Beautypedia and Amazon and settled on Physician's Formula. It came yesterday, and I am going to use it for a week or so and see how I like it.

As you age, you're supposed to use a lighter formulation. Or at least what I get told to my old face by those whippersnappers at Ulta. My skin is light, not many wrinkles but I do have some hyperpigmentation.
If you like Laura Geller, maybe try their BB cream for everyday. I had been using the It and then LG powder foundations and was pounced upon by someone when I went for a refill. She fixed me up with the BB and it took 10 years off my face. I set with IT Bye Bye Pores only where they're an issue- my nose, chin and forehead. I will replace the powder with one of the Too Faced versions because I like those better.
If I want a more finished, made up look (i.e. cover the hyperpigmentation), I add some LG powder foundation over the BB cream.
