I had given a co-worker a check to contribute to a department baby shower gift. She hadn't cashed it yet and thinks her wallet was stolen or lost while shopping. It had my check inside.
I will call the bank to put a stop on it, but do I need to do anything else as far as protection? It has our names, addresses, phone number and bank account number on it.

I wouldn't think so, I mean anytime you write a check people see that info so if you pay any bills by check a hundred people could have that info. I wouldn't worry about it too much. And honestly if the check wasn't for that much I probably wouldn't even stop payment on it and just hope they don't cash it
Yeah, I am so used to never using checks anymore (I did for this just because I put it in her mailbox at work and didn't want a $20 bill sitting in there in plain view) or I am used to getting my check back after they scan it (which I never do anymore either). I think this is the first check I've written in well over a year lol. But you are right, I probably don't have anything to worry about.
