I'm checking in for this one. I'm horrible about caring for my skin. I often have grand ideas that I'll be good with it and then I follow a routine once or twice and stop.
I have a k beauty routine which has cleared up 90% of my adult acne in addition to a retin A gel from my dermatologist. Snow White and the Asian pear is a good blog site to start. Top left of her banner has a beginners section. I also like k beauty because I've been switching all my personal care items over to be cruelty free/ no animal testing.
My daily routine is a gentle cleanser, moisturizer with SPF 35, and Bobbi Brown's eye cream. About once a week I use a gentle exfoliator and every two weeks I use a mask. I also drink a ton of water.
You didn't say exactly what is making you look older. Dullness, lines, skin sagging, bags under eyes, gauntness, poor texture? Come on, konapoppy, help us help you . Really though, depending on the issue, you may need something different, but a retinol product is a safe bet for most of these problems. If you are generally happy with your regimen, I'd look into adding a serum at night and probably a heavier/differently moisturizing moisturizer and/or eye cream. I can tell you my specific products, but my lineup is kind of boring these days (although, there is some comfort in not changing it up as much anymore, I am 40 for goodness sakes lol) and as tacom alluded to, it's not the shortest list .
This will always hold a special place in my heart . This was the first anti-aging product I ever used. I started it at 25, because I was "getting old." . Someone hold me lol.
sfy, well in the nightmare it was all around awful lol. The creases in my forehead and between my brows are going to be an issue for me. My crows feet are also starting to get worse. Eye cream, serum and moisturizer all sound like good ideas. Luckily acne isn't as much of a factor (that might be because if the regimine of hormones I am on for infertility treatments).
I'm 47. I use SPF 50 (Asian) during the day along with moisturiser if needed, at night I use a retinol cream, anti-oxidant (during the day) and an oil (which is only sold in the UK - it's a night oil for ageing skin). I also use the Mizon eye cream both night and day.
Retinol makes the biggest difference for me. I still have a lot of lines on my face (thanks pale skin and a history of tanning in my teens and early 20's), but at least my skin looks nice and glow-y from the retinol.
Any recommendations for breastfeeding (or future pregnancy) safe products that are MM?
My biggest issue is non smooth skin. I couldn't find a picture when I googled because many of the images were of acne or acne scars.
Also, since I've had DD my face gets oily quicker (this does not contribute to the bumpy forehead because it was like that pre pregnancy). Any suggestions on face wipes for when I'm on the go? I don't wear makeup.
An organic peel might be helpful.
I've got no ideas on the wipes, my skin is super dry, so nothing I've used would be a good match.
Another 40-something chiming in. I have a hard time pulling the trigger on expensive anti-aging products. Not sure why. But I've had a lot of luck with the less expensive Aveeno Positively Ageless line that you can get at Target or the drugstore. I use their foaming face cleanser, their daily moisturizer with SPF and their night cream.
Yes, that's it . It's just a very solid eye cream. Did not aggravate my sensitive skin at all.
I generally don't have sensitive skin but almost all of the eye creams I tried before this one irritated my skin. This one is perfect.
A few women noted wearing hats and sunglasses - YES! I wear sunglasses every day just out and about - mostly because my eyes are sensitive to sunlight but it also reduces aging around the eye.
At the beach, I wear a huge hat. It's popular now to have these big diva hats, but I've been doing it for awhile now. If I spend more than 5-10 minutes outside I'll wear a baseball cap during hikes, dog walking, etc.
I also never lay out or go tanning. Ever. I'm a fair-skinned Irish lass and I've embraced being pale.
Well, if you want to check out the asian skincare post on the makeup board.... The things that have made the biggest difference are double cleansing and a separate sunscreen every single day. I love this cleanser and this sunscreen.
