Yeah, starting this a little early.
One of my kitties managed to pop the screen out of a window and fall 20 ft to the ground today. I live on the 3rd floor of a condo in a downtown neighborhood w/ busy streets nearby so they are strictly indoor cats. No idea when it happened - I was gone from about 9 to 8pm. I noticed I hadn't seen her since getting home which is unusual. She usually helps me with EVERYTHING. Even got up and rattled my keys and opened some gooshy food and no appearance. Discovered the open window with missing screen at 10:30.
Fortunately she didn't leave the property and I found her huddled next to the wall crying in the courtyard downstairs when I went out with a flashlight. Doesn't seem to be injured, just scared. She's so cuddly and happy to be back inside with me. I'm really surprised as she is basically fearless and I figured if she ever got out she would just run for miles saying hello to every person she met on the way.
Someone hit my car overnight. It's drivable but they didn't leave a note so I get to file a claim on my insurance. Thanks dude bro asshole.
My favorite professor teaches US diplomatic history. I was hoping to sit in on one of his lectures because I'd LOVE to hear his thoughts on the current election but the only lecture class he's teaching is his one class where he probably wouldn't touch on the election.

Glad your kitty is okay.
My poor dog has an infected elbow callus. He's wearing his cone of shame for the gazilionth time this year. Poor guy. Between his allergies and his 'lickies', he ends up having lots of minor infections.
I just read a letter to the editor comparing Trump supporters to the French uprisers in Les Miserables and then posted the lyrics "Do you hear the people sing?" He said Trump supporters feel enslaved.

After three days in temporary house, cat is getting her attitude back. Poor thing doesn't realize she'll need to adjust all over again in a few more days, whenever we get to close and go to the real home. Supposedly, clear to close could happen today. I want to believe, but don't want to get my hopes up. But I am thrilled at the idea of getting the close date, and calling the moving company to take care of all the stuff from there.

If your alma mater was making some decisions you strongly disagreed with (cutting programs, mostly), who would you contact? The Dean? President? Someone else?
I work from home and my office is freezing, but it's really not cold enough to turn on the heat yet. I'm just always cold. I'm sitting here bundled up in a long sleeve, hoodie, sweats, and heavy socks...lol. I think I need to buy a little space heater or something.
Oh, and hi to everyone! I've lurked for a while but just recently started participating. I've realized with this election cycle that I need to become more informed re: politics and this board has really helped with that.

There is an alumni relations board at my alma matter, that would be my first contact.
I finished reading (or listening in my case) to Hidden Figures. I was all jazzed at the beginning because it was (no sarcasm) completely new information! And then the book disappointed me. The book focused more on the technical aspects of the jobs and job levels then it did on the women. For example, we don't learn until the epilogue that one of the women sacrificed her own tech career to go into HR so that those coming after her would have a fairer deal in the workplace. I'm hoping that the movie gets more into the human aspect of the stories.

That's good to know though. I haven't bought the book yet.

Welcome! I WFH too and the space heater is key. Combined with layering up to the point where I could go on an arctic expedition, it keeps me comfy without heating the whole house during the day.
My random: I was eligible for a new iPhone 7 and got all carried away and went with the one I could get quickly - matte black - and it's here (!) but now I'm having color selection remorse and want to swap it for the rose gold. Which is stupid since I put it in a triple layer Otterbox so I can't even see the rose gold. But I'll know it's there. Tell me I'm stupid.

I think I figured out my first CE&P halloween AE after the first two ideas I had were already claimed (I was slow on the uptake lol). I'm pretty excited now.

When I got my new phone last month I even agreed to get a phone with less GBs just so I could have rose gold :/

Advancement/Development. They're going to listen best if they think there are donations on the line.
Another (audio) book random - I started Luvvie's "I'm Judging You" and it's great. I just wish she wasn't reading it. I'm sure she's an awesome speaker, and the content of the book is great... she's just not all that good about reading the content of her book. The pacing and inflection are constantly off. :/ So, if you're going to buy it, I suggest getting the print version.

A stupid Toyota commercial had me thinking. In 1963 Leslie Gore sang a song a head of its time, about not being a possession of her boyfriend, You Don't Own Me. How sad that 53yrs later this song is still relevant, and still ahead of it's time, but now it's an anthem to our government.

I'm having a hard time reading it because of this reason. My copy on my kindle just got recalled from the library because I forgot to renew it so now I have to wait until it's available again.
