No, you are not misreading. I have patriotic and election themed apparel for my kids for a WHOLE WEEK. Some of it is stuff I bought specifically for the election (election day stuff and the united t-shirts with the LBJ quote for post-election), but I also have an intense obsession with peek brand kids t-shirts - so some of them are ones I had already purchased for the kids for various patriotic holidays or just historically appropriate dork wear. Then when I realized I had almost a whole week of election themed apparel, I decided to buy the Girl power and Washington shirts from Gap because they had 40% off making the total purchase ~$25. I figured if I was going all in, $25 was reasonable.
(they both have the united t-shirts and the POTUS/Future President shirts so they will match those days instead of coordinate, which is kind of lame, but I'll make Scarlett's outfit funky enough that they will look different).
I only buy peek on sale! Unless it's epic perfection. Today graphic t-shirts were buy 1 get 1 1/2 off so I pulled the triggger on the Johnson t-shirts I'd been eying.
Peek is like heaven for nerds though. And any variety of nerd too. My kids have dorky science shirts, dorky history shirts, and excellent (but dorky) holiday apparel. It's so hard to find cute stuff for boys as they age and it's my go to for Jackson.
I'm still mad I missed out on a Lincoln tshirt a few years ago. It pops up on eBay every so often for like a zillion dollars.

Yeah I don't have enough self control. Maybe I should just let you alert me to the best deals.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
These are amazing!!!! Are those star leggings from Peek?
Carters actually! They also had a pair with hearts on the knees and had LO and VE underneath the hearts that I was tempted by because of the Love trumps hate thing.
are you sending jackson to school in the "a womans place is in the white house"? he wont get pushback from kids at school?
That's for election day and we vote in schools, so no school on election day.
If he wants to wear it another day, I'd let him. I'm not sure if he will or won't, but he's forever getting into arguments on the playground about how Trump is the worst and he's proud to be a feminist. He's been very firm on a woman should be president for over a year now, before he even knew who HRC and Trump were.
I do struggle with this, because of where we live and the reaction he could get from people who celebrate sexism and being good ol' boys. I don't want to make him an outsider, or different, but my big thing with both kids is that we stand up for what we think is right. So if he wanted to wear that to school, I'd let him.
He tends to not give a fuck what other people think and is proud of who he is and his opinions. I mean, this is the kid who announced to his football team that their chant thing was grammatically incorrect so he doesn't like it. Then at another practice, while they were getting water, he said multiple times in a convo about recess that he'd rather read a book. That's always been who he is - confident in who he is and not really susceptible to peer pressure or judgment. Another example: he rode a tricycle for YEARS past when most of his neighborhood friends did and he legit gave no fucks and had no shame. If he doesn't want to play a certain thing or do something, he just doesn't do it, even if it means he misses out on time with his friends.
He's never going to be a follower, so I try to embrace it and not worry too much, but it is hard. I don't want him to be hurt or vulnerable ever, obviously.
@majorwife, my kids call him Donald JERK Trump, lol.
It's interesting here because I think a lot of people are hesitant to vocally support Trump. Very few I know have, and the few I do know of are generally loud assholes who don't give a shit what anyone thinks. But it seems like most standard R-types here are very embarrassed by Trump. Not enough to vote for HRC or support her, but I think he gets relatively little pushback because Trump is indefensible to most people here (at least on a vocal level). The worst he's gotten about HRC is that she looks VERY SICK AND WILL PROBABLY DIE. I told him to tell them that a) that wasn't true, b) that isn't a reason to vote for the devil and c) Tim Kaine is vastly preferable to Mike Pence.

I just got each of the girls a Peek tee.
On my personal CC so my H doesn't find out. Because I spent all of last week absolutely bitching that they had too many clothes as I changed over closets for the season and packed away what doesn't fit.
