who don't wear helmets when they ride their bikes. And then I realize "hey it's not my brain, it's theirs!"
Yesterday I saw a dad on rollerblades who had his son in front of him, holding onto the kid who was on a scooter. Both dad and son did not have on a helmet. It was an accident waiting to happen! People are so stupid!
Parents who have kids failing classes already in the first 3 weeks of school, but expect that I'm the one who has to make them pass. Yes, I can try my darnedest in the 2 hours a day I have your student, but if you don't hold your kid accountable at home and let them play xBox for 6 hours a night instead of taking an hour to work on homework and/or study, there's nothing I can do about that. Also, maybe encourage them to read a book every once and a while; their lives would be better because of it.
I hate people who don't wear their helmets, especially in NYC. But I figure it's survival of the fittest.
I told DH if we have kids, I'm going to padlock their helmet to their head when they go out on their bikes because I know when I was a kid that helmet came off as soon as my mom was out of sight.
Yep, the helmet thing--if DS doesn't wear it, he doesn't ride. Trike, training wheels, bike trailer. I can't believe the motorcyclists who don't wear them now that it's no longer the law in MI. Seriously, I know I don't wear a helmet in my car, but hello, these things called the ROOF and SEATBELT are there for a reason. We're going at least the same speed, but they're fully exposed? STUPID!
I don't understand how people don't wear helmets. My DH had an accident this summer on his bike. If he hadn't been wearing his helmet he would be dead. I get nauseous now when I look at his destroyed helmet. When I see students riding around campus with no helmets I just want to shake them.
I've hit my head on the concrete at 25 mph in a crit. I had a helmet on that was destroyed. I came away with a little road rash and a light concussion (per my doctor). Enough said. I will always wear a helmet riding bikes or horses.

Cyclists who not only don't stop at stop signs/red lights, but don't appear to look both ways before cruising through an intersection. Twice this past week I've nearly hit someone who cycled themself right out into traffic without looking. I'm all for "share the road" but that line has to go both ways. Crossing against the light without even looking is just dumb/suicidal.
(The second cyclist not only crossed on a red light without looking, he also gave me the middle finger after I swerved to miss him. Classy.)
ETA - I am all for cyclists in general, and our local group is full of talent/hard workers. Our road is narrow and twisty, as well as just one giant 5+ mile hill (there is over 1k elevation change from the bottom of our road to the top of the road) and hot dang, I'm so impressed by the cyclists I see out there pounding out the miles on the regular. Most of the cyclists in our area are not only awesome riders but genuinely good people. I just want to yell at the dumb ones.
