C got one not long after she was potty trained. Can you get them in reaction to meds? I know you can get yeast infections (which I think kids can get too) from medications.
i have a call in to the nurse for my pedi's office. i wanted to make sure she'd nap and not pee herself awake, not to mention the importance of emptying her bladder if she has a UTI and it took 10 minutes of crying and bargaining and hitting and hysteria. she's in such pain. i'm so sad for her.
yet right now the main option is the ER and we all know that will be hours of sleeplessness and awfulness and germs. hence the call to the nurse's office. if this isn't it, or if getting her the medicine tomorrow morning is the same as getting it right now in terms of treatment, i'd rather comfort her and be sleepless at home. if not, then obviously i'll go. still no fever.
I will say, the emergency room tends to be slow on Sunday, at least our pediatric emergency room was last weekend.
One tip that C had a UTI for us was she started to wet her bed and was reluctant, with good reason, when she was awake to pee on the potty. But, it is worth it getting checked out since the meds make a big difference quickly. Also, I can't tell you how awesome it is trying to get a toddle to pee in a cup or the logistics of getting said pee in the cup. lol
I have one right now, they suck! Im halfway through my supply of antibiotics. DH just went to the store for some yogurt cuzz I think the meds are making me feel kind of crappy.

Antibiotics can cause yeast infections. Not sure what kind of crappy you are feeling.

we went to a pediatric urgent care. holy crap guys, this urgent care was like the ritz of urgent care. i can't even believe how nice it was. it's not a UTI, it's vaginitus. which is awful, because omg my poor little bunny (they think she got it because she's potty training and likely not wiping as well as we would--so that's something to work on). and we have to keep her naked from the waist down as much as possible and somehow bathe her three times a day and also go to work. but awesome because no new drugs and she's okay.
