DS1 is doing okay. The wounds are mainly superficial, except for a small flap of skin near his nose and all around his earlobe, which is pretty gory. The ER nurses basically cleaned the wounds, the doctor cleaned them again (because they are still bleeding, even now) and gave him antibiotics. They are required to make a police report and will have to verify that the dog's shots are up to date, because we have no idea. The doctor won't stitch anything because of the risk of infection, so DS just has to keep it clean and covered w/antibiotic ointment. It is just nasty looking and dripping blood. Gross.
We made it home in time for me to pop 2 Xanax and throw some makeup on my face before family arrived for Nicholas' party. Luckily H had picked up the cake and had the food under control because he is awesome. We had 20 guests here, and right in the middle of the party, DS1's friend & Grandpa walked over(the dog owner). The Grandpa started crying when he saw DS's face and just kept apologizing and offering to pay for everything. We assured him we weren't mad, that it was just an accident, and obviously the poor dog was just frightened. DS sat w/the guy for over 1/2 hour trying to calm him down, but the guy said he will probably have her put down because she is old and he doesn't trust her around his 2 year old granddaughter that lives with him. We are very sad about that, but he is adamant.
DS is now unimpressed about going to his second day of college w/a "fucked up face".
Kind of funny: when Nicholas first saw DS's bloody face he said: "Oh no Jake! You're dead! The dog killed Jake's face! Oh no!"
I'm glad that there was some humor involved and that everyone is okay. I feel for the grandpa and the dog. Good for you and DS that you can be so gracious about the whole thing.

DS was supposed to go over a couple of times a day to let the dogs out, feed and water them. He went the first time last night and was a little nervous because the pittie was pretty protective of her home and was a little aggressive. This morning, he was spending a little extra time w/the pit to earn her trust, and the mixed breed got jealous, I guess. The guy only has one leash, so DS had to do 1 at a time, and when it was the mixed turn to get on the leash, she snapped at him and backed out of her collar. Then she ran off. So, DS chased her down (she runs off a lot- her name is "Jet") he found her, tried to pick her up (no collar) she bit his arm. He picked her up and held her to him, she freaked out and bit his face, at least twice. He dropped her, she took off again, he walked home, dripping blood all the way.
