We are going next summer, early July, for a convention, and I am debating on going a day or so early to see stuff. However, I haven't really seen much online that looked interesting. There are no races going on while we are there (which is fine by me since I am not a fan of racing), so I have no idea what else we could do.
Summer in Indy is fun. Depending on the schedule you can catch an Indians (baseball) or Fever (WNBA) game. The art museum is an awesome place to visit and the grounds contain works of art, too. We have concerts on the canal throughout the summer. The zoo is fun and the track (IMS) does daily tours that even those not interested in racing find interesting. If you want to travel outside of downtown there are great neighborhoods with local shops and restaurants worth visiting.
Honestly, I don't think Indy's Internet presence is that great but there are definitely things to do here. It all depends on what interests you as to what you'll find interesting here.
