... and it's starting to keep me up at night (like right now).
Currently, I'm a medical SLP. I make decent money and have a fairly cushy job, but I don't see myself doing this forever.
My original thought was to go back for an MBA in healthcare administration and pursue an administrative role in the rehab/hospital environment. I've even found a program that I can do mostly online but partly locally (haven't applied or been accepted, just doing research). OTOH, I have a wonderful 20m/o DD whom I adore and I feel like that career might force me to work than I want to and miss things that I don't want to miss.
The second thought would be to transition to the schools, which, for me, isn't a smooth transition. It would involve going back to grad school for at least a semester to complete a student practicum that I opted out of the first time around. Working in a school would give me an ideal schedule with DD. Summers off, matching vacations, etc. But I'm worried there wouldn't be enough upward potential to keep me satisfied. Not to mention that I'm not thrilled about the job itself--only the schedule.
Sorry if this is tl;dr, I mostly need to vent and any suggestions are much appreciated.
I work in the school system in a similar position and while I miss the medical aspect, I LOVE the schedule. I just spent all summer with my own kids and it was awesome. I am home by 3:15 and I work 3 days a week. I get paid well and rarely take work home with me. I am never juggling for child care on a school snow day. I can cart my kids to their activities after school. The schedule has gotten infinitely more awesome now they are in school and the perks are more noticeable. If I could work with any population, I would work with infants, but I really do enjoy the work in the school setting and I love the kids and I lovelovelove the schedule. I feel like its such a great balance. Can you work while you do the practicum?

I emailed a school today asking for information on how to do this. I'm assuming I'm not the first person who didn't do a school practifum during grad school. Plus, one of the local schools is actually affiliated with the hospital network I work for, so it's highly likely I could do it for free.
