I'm exhausted, but I just keep taking on more things. Why do I do this to myself? (It's not even a matter of being unable to say no. It's more a matter of being unable to stop myself from trying to carry out a good idea.)
I've got to get new tires on my car (this upcoming Monday, @juno, in case you were worried. ) because my old ones are 5 years old and are extremely bald, but why the HELL are they so expensive? It's like, here are four strips of molded rubber. That'll be $700 please. WHY? Ugh.
And an AW: I passed the real estate exam here in CA! So now I'm getting all set up but it looks like I'll be ready to go as a salesperson by the beginning of January. It's exciting and terrifying. (Anybody need a house?)

mrs.jacinthe, congrats on passing your exam!! And I totally agree with you on the tires. Thank god for my SO, as he is super logical and analytical. When I was car shopping, he actually made an excel spreadsheet so I could compare and contrast and one of the fields was cost of tires. The one car I was really considering was $1,500 for middle of the road tires! I almost pooped myself. Needless to say, I didn't buy that car. Lol.

I have a big ole LOL for today. I ordered a rug back in the beginning of September and I was told twice it was on back order and wasn't shipping until the end of November. I saw another rug I liked which was "in stock" so I bought it, thinking as I would see it really soon, I could cancel the first one if I really liked the second one. Of course, the second rug was also placed on back order. However, I got notified Monday that it shipped. Anddddd then on Tuesday, I got notified the original one shipped, too. Oops.
I am meeting a realtor (who is a trusted friend of a trusted coworker) tonight at my father's condo. He has been described as "blunt." My kind of person. He's going to tell me what he'd list the condo for and how long he thinks it would take to sell if we (1) sell as-is, (2) thoroughly clean the place, or (3) replace the flooring and repaint. He also has a team that can do whatever we don't want to, including just emptying the place out completely when we're sure anything valuable is out. Fingers crossed I like the guy because having this info and help lined up if needed is going to be SO NICE.
I'm now on the path to painting the pink room navy. Did two coats of a light pink and with the lighting in that room it just does.not.work. So I'm using a color that's in the office already that has similar light (same size window, same side of the house) and I love it. I'm hoping it will be a cozy bedroom. The bed is a gray upholstered bed with a white and gray quilt so I think it will pop.
We also have our old dresser now in what we call the cave room (small "bedroom" with no windows) with a tv on it. I kind of want to paint it, but I don't know if I can. It's not solid wood or anything. Thoughts?

Do it. If it's not valuable or antique, paint it. With non-wood, just make sure you scuff it up a bit before painting to make sure the paint adheres properly.

I've never painted a piece of furniture before. But no, this isn't valuable in any way, shape, or form so it would be good practice.

We're having the worktop guys come to the house tomorrow to do the template for our granite. They are also meant to bring a sample of granite from the slabs they'll be using so I can see what we'll get. Things are coming together.
Confession- I still haven't pulled up my spring and summer flowers and planted any fall flowers. Some of them still look pretty decent. I just don't have the energy for it right now.
Good luck with the realtor AmyRI , it sounds like he could ease your burden if it works out.
It's kind of late to AW Halloween, but I dressed as Maleficent (from the animated Disney Sleeping Beauty, not the Angeline Jolie movie), and I made my scepter, (complete with lighted orb), and turned a purchased owl into a cartoon raven.
I attached the bird to a wristband that I had painted metallic gold. It kind of looked nude and blended with my arm, so it looked like he was sitting on my forearm.
We had a giant purple and black inflatable dragon and some cool lighting too. It helped attract trick or treaters to walk all the way down the block, since we live at the end of a fairly long, very dark dead end street, where the only people giving treats are always at our end of the block.
I bought the last supplies to finish my dresser for the guest room. Now I just need to decide about a mirror, either use the one it came with or one I have that's extra (that my mom may want for the beach house).
I'm having a lot of anxiety over the house and the holidays coming up. I want the downstairs to be "done" but we are nowhere close. We still haven't figure out the sectional situation and it's so hard with a 3yo who is very active. I know houses take time, but I feel like the family room is a mish mash and that's the main room. We are at least going to buy a new christmas tree this weekend, so we have that checked off.

I'm growing older but not up. My metabolic rate is pleasantly stuck, let the winds of time blow over my head. I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead.

TR, I googled and read lots of blogger's tips on furniture painting before I tried it. The general plan is to clean it really well, sand lightly to give the surface some "tooth," use an adhesion primer, and two thin coats of paint. Don't rush any of the painting steps, it's better to let the coats dry thoroughly in between.

It went well! He thinks he can sell it for a profit quickly as-is. So I need to talk to my brother, but that is likely the road we'll try first. It needs more upgrades than we're willing to do to catch up to the neighborhood. Putting lipstick on the pig is not likely to get us more money, so why bother unless we absolutely have to.
Now to finish cleaning out the place (ourselves or pay his crew to do it) and get it listed.
