How is everyone doing as we head into the weekend? I'm finding that the check-ins are helping keep me motivated, even if they aren't actually keeping me on track with my word count. LOL!
Word count? 3775 as of the end of day 4, and another 591 of character notes, so I'm behind but making fairly steady progress of about 700 words/day.
Anything you need help with, or are struggling with? Maybe you need a "think out loud" for a moment and we can provide assistance?
I need a new name for one of my female characters, and it needs to be a name like Elizabeth that has a TON of nicknames, but it can't actually be Elizabeth.
I just passed 7K words and I have the worst headache. Going to go have hot chocolate, which if not headache-curing at least is a reward for this afternoon's work.
IDK how I'm doing: okay I guess? I felt pretty optimistic two days ago, and even this morning, but working while tired didn't produce such great stuff. I need more sleep!
As for names, how about Katherine, with nicknames Kathy, Katie, Kate, and Kat?

I thought about that one, but I guess I need to be more specific in that I also need the nicknames to also be stand alone names that aren't necessarily obvioulsy related to the root name. Unless there are other varients on Katherine nicknames I'm not thinking of.
Elizabeth works really *really* well for this because the nicknames Ella or Betty could be stand alone names or short for something else.
Trust me that this makes perfect sense in the framework of my story, because I'm sure I sound ridiculous right now. LOL!
incogneato, I might be up for swapping at some point, but based on my writing classes and the books I've been reading I do think I need to have completed my first draft before I "open the door," and I definitely won't be done by the end of November.

How is everyone doing as we head into the weekend? I got nothing done the last two days. :/ I am feeling better now so I'm hoping to get a lot done tonight. Unfortunately, everybody in my house is being really loud and yelling at people to shut up so you can write is frowned upon.
Word count? 10k. I have officially lost all of my buffer.

Nonny Eleanor could go a lot of different ways in similar terms to Elizabeth (Nora, Elle, Ella). Margaret and Penelope also have lots of nickname possibilities.
incogneato I like the idea of exchanging work. I haven't swapped before, though.
I'm not doing well at all. About 3k words. I've written 1k words every other day so far. I am just not feeling my story. I don't think the plot is strong enough and I'm not sure I can make it any stronger.
The only other year I failed miserably in 8 years is when I was pregnant with my daughter. I think NaNo and pregnant me just don't mesh well. I might keep writing but it's hard when you're not excited about the story.
I don't want to quit but this just might not be my year. And I was prepared for that due to 1st tri sickness, but not for lack of story love.

Is there anything you are more excited about? One year I had no writing buddies participating with me so partway through the month I gave up on my "real" story and wrote some fan fiction. It got me through the month, which was all I really cared about, and it felt like less of a chore. So clearly, when I suggest other ideas I don't necessarily think that quality is that important in the types of ideas you have.
I have to say I am impressed with trying NaNo at all with morning sickness. Strep & laziness got the best of me even with antibiotics for the past couple of days so an entire month of novelling while sick seems like a huge undertaking.

incogneato, if you are wondering who the strange person who commented on your blog earlier is that would be me. I like seeing how people I "know" are doing so if anybody else is keeping track of their NaNo progress on a blog let me know.
On a semi-NaNo related note, I now have a work-in-progress site. Now the question is how much content I can come up with.
