I need to remember to take my suit jacket with me when I leave the office at lunch. I wore my bright red sweater and navy blouse with white polka dots. I felt like it was patriotic enough.
Is there where we share election related stories? I have one I want to share.
PDQ (I'll probably poof this later)
My husband has a felony conviction on his record. Because we live in Virginia, the least forgiving state in the country, we went into this election thinking he wouldn't be able to vote. In fact, he wasn't able to vote in the primary in March. But then the Governor changed everything, restoring rights to all felons in the state who had served their sentences, including my husband. We were so excited! And then came the bad news that the state Republicans were suing to stop it, and then the worse news that they won the suit. All our hopes for him to vote were dashed. The Governor came to our rescue again, painstakingly restoring the rights to tens of thousands of felons individually. Including my husband. We got his notification around his birthday. My husband was so happy he almost cried. I definitely did cry.
Today, we went to the polls together before work. We stood in line together. Somehow, we were next to each other every step of the way. We picked up our ballots from officials sitting next to each other. We voted in booths next to each other. And we turned in our ballots into machines next to each other. While my husband may not enjoy politics or be excited about the election, he was excited to be able to vote. I'm sitting in my car at the polling place, with tears of happiness in my eyes.
We just voted together for the first female president of the a United States. All thanks to a brave Governor who challenged the norm of this state.
This is the first time I voted D all down the ticket.
BECAUSE FUCK YOU GUYS, YOU LET THIS CHEETO MONSTER HAPPEN.
I voted R in one local election, but D for the rest. Even for the semi meaningless positions like University Regents, I kept thinking "fuck you and you and you and you" as I checked off the Democrat box.

YES. Like, that is exactly what was going through my head.
So happy for your husband, rajahmd . The way he handled the voting rights restoration issue is one of the many reasons I love our current governor!
I know, right? I hope he continues to work for the state after he finishes his term. The fact that he hand approved every single rights restoration, read their files, etc is just amazing. You can tell he really, truly cares.
Maybe he can run for FHTK's Senate seat next year.
Dixville Notch is at least 7 white males (Hillary's weakest demographic, right?) There was also 1 vote for Johnson and 1 write-in for Mitt Romney. So Trump could have tied (or won if any of the Hillary 4 were #nevertrump voters) if he wasn't such a piece of...work.
No pantsuit that fits right now, so rocking a blue dress for HRC and voted for our 1st woman president with my 4 year old daughter by my side. I'd like to blame my eyes tearing up on my pregnancy hormones, but let's be honest, I would have teared up anyway.
My post voting FB post: 8 years ago, I took my baby girl with me to vote for the first black President. Since then she has grown up in a country that fully recognizes her grandmothers' marriage, a country that made it possible for everyone to have health care coverage and seen two more women appointed to SCOTUS. Today she joined me once again for another historic first.
There is still so much we need to work on to make this country a better place for everyone. I cannot wait to see the world that our children will create and I believe that today is one more step in the right direction. #IMWITHHER #GOODTROUBLE
I legitimately couldn't sleep last night because of election anxiety. I made H get up and go vote with me as soon as the polls opened, we were planning to go on his way to work, but I couldn't sit and wait anymore. We were in and out in like 10 minutes, no line at all.
I voted straight D. The only thing I would've thought about anyone else for was our house seat. The incumbent is a republican and has gotten things done for the state, but he is supporting Trump and therefore loses my vote. Nope nope nope.
I semi lurk/post here and im overseers so it has been 8yrs since i voted in person in the us... and im wondering if anyone has encountered issues at the polling places? I got this link from 538 to propublica's project that is following issues around voting
I have 2 hours' worth of new employee training videos to watch online. I saved them for today, so that's 2 hours I can simultaneously check the news/GBCN on my phone.
Eeeee I'm so excited! I bought a bunch of white roses on my way home from work this morning! I'm planning to make Hillary's cookies later for our results watching at a friend's, where I will be wearing my human rights shirt under a blazer with a bunch of Hillary buttons and one planned parenthood "Nasty Woman" button!
I just hope I can sleep today and only wake up when it's almost time to see the results. Also I've already started crying so many times this morning listening to the news or reading pantsuit nation posts, I'm gonna be a straight up blubbery mess tonight! So glad I asked for this day off months ago.

No pantsuit, but I am wearing a hot pink blazer. I'm going to leave work a little early so I can pick DD up and take her with me to vote. DH went before work.
A coworker who I know is republican told me that he "didn't vote for the jackass." I waited a second, because, you know, for some people that could go either way. He said he doesn't have much faith in her, but she's better than the alternative and it's time for a woman to be president.
