We are doing a potluck TG with friends. I am bringing pies and I'm trying a new recipe for stuffing using Everything bagels. I'm dying to taste it. I hope it is as amazing as I imagine!
I'm hosting Thanksgiving and haven't even thought about it.
We're also supposed to do Friendsgiving with two other couples ... but at least two of them voted for Trump and one's being a real dick about it so we're rethinking that
Lol. I'm narrowing down my menu still. I will freeze the mac and cheese, creamed spinach, creamed corn, and green bean casserole. I've halved all recipes.
This year, it will be just my mom and I going to a nice restaurant which is kind of a family tradition for us. My sister is going to be in NYC this year, so won't make it. My BF is going to see his family. I would be invited but I want to spend the holiday with my mom. I will see his family around Christmas. I like them but this is what I want to do.
The restaurant is really nice. We've been for several years and they always have a great, fresh buffet. (It's one of those where they carve the turkey in front of you). None of us are huge turkey eaters and we like being able to choose from a lot of different sides and desserts. There's also no clean up. It works well for us. We've probably been going to some kind of restaurant for TG for almost 10 yrs.
We are having a low-key thanksgiving. I'm considering buying a dinner to be delivered because I don't think it's worth it to cook everything for 2 adults and a kid. Any recs?
Our oven is broken and I need to call the landlord. We didn't use it all summer because it was so hot (our stovetop is separate) and I didn't realize DH has been using the convection microwave to cook his frozen pizzas.

I know nothing about this other than I saw an advertisement, but the woman from weelicious has a food delivery service - Onepotato dot com. She has a special thanksgiving meal that looks tasty. 11.99 per adult and 4.50 for kids.
My mom is hosting this year. I'm planning on going over early so I can help cook and actually throw some seasoning in everything.
I'm going to try making some mini pies this year. Does anyone have any crust recipes they love? I've never made my own crust and I'm afraid I'm being too ambitious.
okay, I really want to do puff pastry in a squares in muffin tin and add a feta and spinach "filling" to the cup. Anyone have a recipe for this? I assume I will cook the spinach and remove the excess water first? Then season with garlic and S&P
A couple of single friends and I are going out to dinner at a locally owned nice restaurant to avoid cooking. I may have to bring a dish to a potluck that weekend. Green bean casserole is my go-to since I am not a good cook.

I use Martha Stewart's pate brisee recipe. It is so easy and turns out perfect every time I have made it. I use it for my chicken pot pie and other sweet pies. It is rich and flakey and so good! I even whip it up on a weeknight for dinner - it is that easy.
We are hosting our first this year--low key crowd, just us, my parents, my cousin and my great aunt. Mom is in charge of pie and beer, DH is actually very excited to host.

Looks like it will be a small crowd this year, might just be the four of us. It is a far cry from last year's group of 17. RockNVoll is still invited over, but the walk might be a little further this year. I ordered the main stuff but will make some sides and maybe another pie to go along with everything.

You guys should just fly out here for a long weekend and do Friendsgiving with me at a restaurant
We have ordered our turkey from a local farm (and a spare because they are delicious). DH will make pies, and my parents will bring most of the sides.
Most of my preparation will be on talking points with the Trumpers. Wondering if I will have cause to enforce my No Racism house rule. I've never been able to go high with my dad, like ever, so this should be interesting.

We never do thanksgiving with actual family. It's always been our closest friends. This year only one family can make it but H is insisting on making as much as usual. And we're supposed to pick up the turkey on Saturday at the farmers market but we have a karate tournament Friday and Saturday. So we've screwed our friends into having to trek in and pick it up.
