Went to the doctor this morning for routine follow up. Was complaining of a pulled muscle in my chest, making it hurt to breathe. I think I pulled it while i was painting the family room.
Anyhow, I guess my descriptors of pain were indicative of possible other things, so they ran an ECG. And it was abnormal enough that they're referring me for a full cardiology workup. Apparently the changes I have are indicative of possible CAD and/or neurological ischemia.
So, needless to say, I'm on the no workouts bench for a few weeks. Or more, depending on what cardiology says.
And the PSA: even if you think you're healthy and feel fine, a full workup with ECG is important if you're an athlete. You don't want to become a statistic.
Yikes, that is scary! I hope everything is ultimately ok.
You're right, it is super important to keep getting regular physicals, even though we are active and "healthy." You hear these stories, often marathon runners or ironman triathletes, who suffer a heart attack mid race, not having known that they had some kind of dangerous arrhythmia or obstruction all along. With your cold water OWS especially, I am glad they are being proactive.

Totally scary. But at least you went to get checked out! I have a family history of pretty much everything so my doc gives me an ECG (or EKG?) every so often because she knows I do a lot of exercise.
